OBJECTIVE:
To perform various operations on cylindrical Aluminum sample and fabricate the work
piece as per the dimension mentioned.

OPERATION PERFORMED ON WORKPIECE:

1. Turning
Turning is a machining operation performed on a lathe in which the work
piece rotates at high speeds while a fixed cutting tool removes material.The
tailstock provides rigidity to the work piece to minimize chatter and
deformation when the part is being cut.
2. Facing
Facing is a turning operation in which the work piece is machined to its
center. It involves moving the cutting tool perpendicular to the work piece’s
axis of rotation the closer a cutting tool is to the center of a work piece, the
lower the cutting speed.
3. DRILLING

Drilling is the operation of producing a cylindrical hole in a work piece. It is

done by a rotating tool, the rotating side of the cutter, known as a drilling
drill. In this operation, the work piece is revolving in a chuck or a faceplate
and the drill is held in the tailstock drill holder or drill chuck.
4. Counter Sinking
A countersink is a cutting tool which puts a conical hole into an object.
A common use is to allow the head of a countersunk bolt or screw,
when placed in the hole, to sit flush with or below the surface.
Countersinks may also be used to remove burrs left from drilling or
tapping operations.
5. Internal Threading
Internal threads refer to those on nuts and tapped holes, while external
threads are those on bolts, studs, or screws. The thread form is the
configuration of the thread in an axial plane; or more simply, it is the
profile of the thread, composed of the crest, root, and flanks.
6. Boring
Boring always involve the enlarging of the existing hole, which have
been made by a drill or may be result of a core in a casting. An equally
important concurrent purpose of boring may be to make hole concentric
with the axis of rotation of the work piece.
7. Chamfering
Chamfering is the operation of beveling the extreme end of the
work piece. The form tool used for taper turning may be used for
this purpose.
DIMENSIONS:
Material = Aluminum
Diameter = 25 mm ± 0.2
Length = 25 mm to 30 mm
Bolt diameter = 6 mm (L+25 mm)
External Threading diameter = 22 mm
