Lesson Plan

I. Describe the class

A. There will be a minimum of 2 high school standardized classes. Each class will

have a minimum of 20 students. The 20 students or so will be broken up into

groups of 4.

II. Subject/Skill:

A. The subject will be Mathematics. The specific math concept will be on Algebra.

The skills will include simplifying radical terms, solving algebraic problems, and

more.

III. Technology Content Standard Addressed: 1.6 Creative Communicator - Students

communicate clearly and express themselves creatively for a variety of purposes using

the platforms, tools, styles, formats and digital media appropriate to their goals.

IV. Objective(s)

A. Students will be able to represent real-world situations using equations.

B. Students will be able to simplify expressions using the order of operations.

C. Students will be able to solve multi-step equations.

V. Procedures

A. The teacher will introduce the group project that the students will be working on.

Group project is on Math Fair and groups are to create fun reenactment of math

concepts.

1. Reenactment can include skits, games, treasure hunts, board games,

roleplay, discord streams, kahoot, etc.

B. The teacher will explain the agenda and the goal of using math concepts in real-

life scenarios. The teacher will then showcase their example of the project.

C. Students will then need to organize themselves in groups of 4.

D. Students will start brainstorming ideas to show how math concepts can be shown

in real-life scenarios.

E. After deciding on an idea, students will tell the idea to the teacher for approval.

F. The group will start planning out their project (i.e. slideshow presentation, short

skit, roleplay, etc.).

G. Group will work on a project for the next coming week. Group has all class

periods to finish up but is expected to keep contact with group members out of the

classroom setting and do some of their own research.

H. On the day of Math Fair, groups will organize their spot while guests and other

students will browse around the fairground. Groups are to perform their

presentations and have fun.

VII. Grouping Structures

A. Students will have to work in a group of 4.

VIII. Modifications

A. Students will have access to a quiet area to work.

B. Students will have access to an online learning space for extra guidance.

C. The teacher will offer breaks when necessary.

D. Students have access to their chromebooks for more research and inspiration.

IX. Assessment

A. After a week and a half of working on their Math Fair project, the groups will

present first their findings to the whole class. The presentation should relate math

concepts in real-life scenarios and should be explained in a creative way. At the

end of each presentation, other students will ask questions or communicate their

comments to the group. The teacher will grade the groups based on a criteria and

the grade will be given after all groups have given their presentations. On the day

of the Math Fair, students will set up on their little booths and perform

accordingly. They are to present their game, skit, or whatsoever to guests. The

Teacher will walk around and observe their students.
