ACTIVITY 1B:
Answer the questions below.
1. Explain the relationship of weight and the stability of an aircraft during flight.

The relationship between the weight and the stability of an aircraft is that the
distribution of weight has a direct effect on the stability of the aircraft and an increase in
aircraft gross weight effects its stability during flight regardless of its CG.

2. What do you think are the effects of weight to the performance of the aircraft? And how does
the position of the center of gravity affects aircraft performance?

The effects of weight to the performance of the aircraft are higher takeoff speed,
longer ground run for takeoff, reduced ROC and AOC, shorter range to name some and the
position of the CG affects the performance of the aircraft because when it is too far aft it will
be near the center of lift and may cause difficulty to recover from a stall and if it does enter a
spin, it would become a flat spin and become difficult or impossible to recover from. If the CG
is too far forward, it will lack the sufficient elevator authority.
