1. “A brand is a voice and a product is souvenir”- Lisa Gansky. Obviously, most of my things are
foreign brands. Specifically, I have belongings that are usually made in China and it made me realized
that globalization affects my decisions in purchasing certain products. On the other hand, almost half of
my things are foreign items that was made in different countries within the United States of America.
That’s not new for me because I’m aware that America has a gigantic economy and trading system and
it became more powerful due to the certain advantages of globalization in today’s society. However, I
can’t still believe that I’ve only found two products that are made from our country. It only means that
globalization is a powerful force that makes foreign brands/products much more patronized than local
brands. I’ve realized that I have numerous foreign products than the local one and it gives me an
understanding on how globalization manipulates me perfectly with zero knowledge about it.

2. Unfortunately, I’m not aware that most of my belongings are foreign brands. I felt like I’ve been
living my whole life in ignorance. I was shocked in finding out that I’ve been fooled myself for so
many years knowing that I’m on the side of supporting local products campaign. I was like an alien or
foreigner in my own country because I’m an ignorant person towards marketing and trading system. I
thought that some of my foreign brands are local because I always see them everywhere I go. It seems
like those foreign products are purchased by Filipino consumers because they are famous and never
outdated. However, I’ve discovered to myself that I’m a victim of globalization. The way globalization
manipulates my decision in purchasing products are not funny anymore because instead of supporting
our economy by purchasing local products, it made me blind from the truth that I need to know.
