Nervous System Summary

Overall Function
Central Nervous Brain Brain is an organ that controls thought, memory, emotion,
system touch, motor skills, vision, breathing, temperature, hunger and
every process that regulates our body.

Together with the spinal cord, it makes up out nervous system.

Spinal cord Main function of our spinal cord is it connects our brain to our
lower back. It carries nerve signals from our brain to our body
and vice versa. These nerve signals help you feel sensations
and move your body.

Peripheral Somatic Your somatic nervous system allows you to move and control
muscles throughout your body.

Autonomic sympathetic A part of the peripheral nervous system that is responsible for
regulating involuntary body functions, such as heartbeat,
blood flow, breathing, and digestion.

parasympathetic The main purpose of this is to conserve energy to be used late


and to regulate bodily functions like digestion and urination.
