Overview RATIONALE

“If you want to change the way people respond to you, change the way you
respond to people.” – Timothy Leary

This quotation denotes the law of reciprocity in some point, coming from the
perspective of social psychologists mankind practice mutual exchange of
affection in the manner of social interaction. It is basically doing something
good to a person who has done nice thing to you. The respond of people as
you interact with them is the result of your action towards them. This is very
significant to understand in social interaction.

The essence of social interaction is seemingly traceable even in the


beginning of time when God exerted His power of creation. God created sun
and moon even the stars. And He was happy of their beauty. He then, created
all the creatures that crawl, swim, and fly. He beheld His brilliant creations
with joy and delight. All these gave meaning to His existence but not for long.
God became sad. This is the main reason why He created man because He
needs somebody who He can interact with. Social interaction is valuable to find
inner peace and happiness.

UNESCO believes how social interaction bridges the differences among


people amidst the diversity of culture. This organization amplifies social
interaction through well designed program of activities. Its fundamental
mission is to support people in understanding each other and working together
to build lasting peace.

The 1987 Constitution of the Republic of the Philippines, mentioned in its


declaration of principles and state policies under Section 24 that the state
recognizes the vital role of communication and information in nation-building.
The state adheres that communication as an important factor to achieve
progress. One of the forms of communication is social interaction which only
connotes that when people are in the most comfortable way of interacting to
one another in peace, progress can undeniably persist.
