II. Insights gleaned from the journal

A humanistic approach is an approach to psychology that stresses empathy and

emphasizes the good of human behavior. In counseling and therapy, this approach allows a
counselor to reflect on ways to help enhance an individual's self-image or self-actualization
of things that make them feel worthwhile. It is a positive, full-person theory that focuses on
what makes each individual special.

I realized that the primary role of the school counselor is to help students develop
positive traits and behaviors, and to use their personal intuition to find knowledge,
development, healing, and fulfillment within themselves.

Recent research has shown that school-based humanistic therapy is beneficial for young
people in reducing psychological distress and promoting the achievement of personal goals.
In addition, numerous improvement processes were evident for individual clients, labeled
relief, and self-esteem, gaining insights, enhancing coping strategies and strengthening
relationship skills.

I learned that when students talked about their feelings, it was vital to enhance
meaningful progress in the fields of self, relationships, emotions and functioning.
It is also really beneficial for the therapist to build a good relationship with the
child/adolescent, and this will help speed up the whole process and bring about better
outcomes.

Counselling can lead to substantial and consistent changes in children in all aspects.
III. Application of Insights in Relation to
A. Research
Study has been performed on the beneficial dimensions of school-based therapy.
However the analysis is limited by a small, selective sample and low testimonial validity,
and more qualitative research is required to better understand the process of change in
SBHC.

Larger-scale trials are required to further evaluate the efficacy of SBHC for
students experiencing psychological distress, especially students who identify as
culturally minors or low socio-economic status.

B. Application

Empathy is an essential human emotion that can significantly support people in

counseling and eventually benefit therapists as well. Demonstrating Empathy is something
that therapists can do intentionally, and there are also ways that therapists can raise their own
level of Empathy to make it happen more naturally during sessions.

In order to improve the relationship and speed up the child's development, I agree that
counselors should treat their clients with sympathy and concentrate on what is good for them.
To our clients, we need to be warm, empathetic, understanding and non-judgmental.

I agree that empathy should be exercised when we communicate with our peers, loved
ones, and even strangers.

I also feel that I need to keep my skills sharp and my professional instincts well-honed so
that I can pick up early signs of trouble on various fronts. I also need to maintain a well-
stocked set of programs and intervention strategies so that I can respond quickly to any kind
of crisis situation.

Lastly, I need to maintain open lines of contact with other stakeholders to ensure that the
programs I provide are part of a robust, individualized education strategy.
