STRESS MANAGEMENT

1. CAUSES AND FACTORS OF STRESS

There are several stressors teachers face in the field of teaching; and these stressors caused teachers to feel
worn-out and burn-out. These are the causes and factors:
a. High Job Demand
b. Pupil Misbehavior
c. Poor Working Conditions
d. Poor Relationships at Work
e. Role Conflict
f. Role Ambiguity
g. Lack of Autonomy
h. Poor School Ethics
i. Lack of Developmental Opportunities

Mostly, teachers want to be effective in their line of work; yet when they suffer increased stress, anxiety, and
depression, they will definitely be not at their best that will compromise the learning of the students.

2. THE 9 STRESS MANAGEMENT IN TEACHING

There are 9 Stress Management in Teaching that will, in one way or another, lessen the emotional baggage of
the teachers:
a. Breathe properly to release the overload caused by actors inside the classroom
b. Embrace the Stress
c. Be imperfect
d. Practice emotional first aid
e. Be grateful
f. Limit “grass is greener” thinking
g. Work smarter, not harder
h. Ask for help

3. WAYS TO RELIEVE STRESS AND ANXIETY

There are ways anxiety and stress are managed especially when these are related to the job. These are the
following:
a. Practice Mindfulness
b. Seek Companionship and Inspiration
c. Care for Yourself
d. Prepare and Plan Ahead
e. Change your Mind-Set

4. THE 4 As OF STRESS MANAGEMENT

These are the 4 As of Stress Management:


a. Avoid – this includes planning ahead, rearranging the surroundings and carrying a lighter workload.
In short, it is a matter of taking control, staying away from toxic people, and learn to say “no”.
b. Alter – when issues are unavoidable, approach to the underlying issue is easier to change.
c. Accept – when the avoidance and alteration do not change the situation, acceptance is the best
remedy.
d. Adapt – this means accepting the situation and adjust with it.
5. SEVEN STEPS OF MANAGING STRESS

It is normal to encounter stress in our lives. Some are so mild you cannot even notice while others are
too loud which can affect our whole wellbeing. Fortunately, there are steps to help manage and ease
stress. These are the following:

a. Focus on the Now – overthinking is very dangerous. Always cease the moment and worry about the
future tomorrow.
b. Spend Time with Family and Friends – family always plays a vital role to cope with bunch of baggage
in our lives. Our families will always lighten that issues for us.
c. Connect with Nature – nature will always remind us how God loves us therefore we have to take
care of ourselves.
d. Get More Sleep – sleeping is the best medicine therefore we should not deprive ourselves with it.
e. Breathe Slowly – there is a calming effect when one knows how to practice rhythmic breathing in
order to ease or lessen the anxiety.
f. Make Smart Choices – cope with stress by making decisions that has a long-term impact to the
wellbeing.
g. Take Technology breaks – it is best when things are done in moderation. We should not be too self-
reliant to technology that instead of controlling it, we may be controlled by it.
