Intern Week 1
(November 19 - 23, 2018)

AFFECTIVE – the emotions during the first two to three days were all pure excitements
for we were all expecting a lot of explorations. We were all expecting that we were all
going to work in different fields of TV broadcasting. The rest of days, our expectations
felt exhausted but we still hold on to the rope of silver-linings for there’s still a week left
that we would come experience what TV broadcasting really is!
COGNITIVE – I have learned that working in the media industry involves a lot of time
management and maximation. Everyday has another task waiting for us so if you work
as a media practitioner, you should be keen, quick and flexible as what we have
experienced, we haven’t finished one material yet, another task was going to bother us.
PSYCHOMOTOR - The first week working with the media practitioners in SMNI was
great. However, it was quiet exhausting for we had to work the whole day. Usually, we
logged in at 8 in the morning and logged out at 6pm. Every morning, we were tasked to
continue working on our scripts that we would use for video producing. That time was
Christmas season. Weeks I guess before Christmas, we were tasked to produce a
video featuring Christmas all over the world. But before that, our standing-supervisor,
Ma’am Cheeky toured us around SMNI’s studio so that we would be able to have an
idea on what we’re going to write. The first task given to me was to write (insert title), we
spent the first day writing scripts in relation to the assigned topic given to us. After
finishing the scripts, we were told to edit some of the scripts and resend it to our
supervisor, ma’am Cheeky. We spent the day editing scripts and continue producing
materials in lined with the scripts the next day.
On the next day, we were tasked to make the script possible to everyone’s senses by
putting it into visual aids. They assigned us to the editing department and tasked us to
compile the materials needed for the video production. We were told to download
videos from YouTube so that we could use it as our materials. We spent the whole day
looking for high-quality videos while following what’s written on the script.
After working on the script and materials, our supervisor gave us another task to finish
while planning on the initial video production. We were tasked to write another scripts
that we could use the next day after editing the materials. Before I started composing
scripts for the segment, I started editing the materials I downloaded. Our supervisor
lend each of us a working place. We had our own table and chair, and a set of computer
unit inside the office! It was an amazing experience for we were like working for real
only without gaining income from it. And so we started editing, we tried to finish the
output that day but our Supervisor gave us another task which is to write another script.
So far, the first week was great, but it only had a little exposure to outside and a little
exploration given to us. We spent the whole week with the same routine every day (like,
waking up in the morning, taking up breakfast, bathing, preparing, going to school,
logging in for daily time monitoring, working on another scripts, downloading video
materials from the internet, editing them to come up with outputs for their Christmas
segment and etcetera.)
Intern Week 2
(November 19 - 23, 2018)

AFFECTIVE – it was way far greater than the first week for we met sir Toto, we were
all grateful the time that he deployed us to video shooting. Our hearts were all
pounding literally for he lend us two of their high tech cameras. However, we all were
exhausted that time after a week of brain-drying. In addition, the rest of the days that
week was fun! A lot of ups and downs, friendship quarrels and trainee-supervisor
misunderstanding. I just remained calm, polite and respectful. I tried to stop the others
from showing impolite gestures but I was afraid to join the conflict and so I let them
solve their own chaos for in business world, I need to fight mine and save my ass before
saving others. Well, I got that mindset from our former program head. Most of the time,
it’s effective. On the other hand, during the time when Mr. Jiggy Manicad was to
supposed to conduct a seminar, I was a little bit disappointed that the moderator of the
publication declared that the students could go home if they wanted to. So, Mr. Jiggy
Manicad who supposed to conduct seminar to hundred/s students, turned to got an
interview from us. But, the enjoyement was really genuine! He even gave us his fb
account and let us add him on facebook and accepted us minutes later!
COGNITIVE – I have learned that working in real world shall
PSYCHOMOTOR – the second week started with the same routine. Writing scripts,
downloading materials and editing it to produce final outputs, same process were
introduced like browsing on the internet to gather facts for details in the scripts. All
were still regarding Christmas seasons around the world including different traditions,
cultures, beliefs, fun activities, places to tour and travel at and food to serve, just as
same as the tasks given the previous week.
On the first two days, we worked on the scripts and video editing. That time, we found
out that there was something wrong with what we were doing. I, together with my
internship classmates talked about the materials we were using since the first week
started. The first talk was initiated by my friend which I would choose not to mention
his/her name, we found out that the materials we were gathering from the internet
were used without the uploaders’ permission. We were not told by our supervisors on
what to do or not to do, she just tasked us to write scripts by gathering facts from the
internet, downloading materials from YouTube for better quality for it to be edited and
use for their Christmas segment, Christmas from the Heart. As human as I am, I
thought that maybe she was just testing our initiative whether we have learned
something about giving honor and credits when you borrow somebody’s materials for
your own masterpiece. So, to be safe, what I did was, I downloaded materials without
copyright. I learned it from my IT professor which I would choose not to mention his
name. Although there’s still this guilt feeling within me, but I just did follow what was
ordered. However, the guilt was strong that I told myself that I had to put credits to
appreciate the honor of the original source of the materials that I have used.
Moving on, after a very conflicting dilemmas, we still managed to survive. The last 3
days were the same but still exhausting at the same time. However, what highlights my
stay in the network is the day where I talked to Mr. Jiggy Manicad personally! That
time, he was supposed to conduct a journalism seminary for all senior high school
students particularly the students under journalism practices including
BACommunication students. We waited for sir Jiggy for an hour because it was said
that his flight from Manila to Davao was delayed. Unfortunately, the Moderator of the
JMarian Publication declared that the students could go home if they wanted to, so all
the students left the seminar but the BAcomm students including us. We waited for
another 30 minutes, I guess? Until such time sir Jiggy updated that he’s about to arrive
in school. So we immediately waited for him at the Law Lobby, only us! So we had
deep talks about him regarding his experiences and his advices for us and to other
media practitioners and youngsters. After the interview, he gave us his official facebook
account and let us add him which he immediately accepted! He even chatted me to see
whether the interview with him was aired so he could get a copy of it!

Intern Week 1
(December 3 – 7, 2018)

AFFECTIVE – The first week exciting! We spent the week laughing, talking about
mysteries on earth, and doing our job inside the station. There’s no day that you
wouldn’t smile or laugh. It felt tireless even though you knew your exhausted but the
atmosphere inside the station is different. Everyday, you would laugh, everyday you
get excited to meet another task, and practice yourself as a radio broadcaster.

COGNITIVE – the first week of my stay in the station, had me learned about business
in the media industry. I’ve seen how money is being cycled from the sponsors to the
breakdown of expenses. I saw how the marketing department do their jobs in
marketing the station; how big the value of the money is to regulate the station by
maintaining its needs. Also, I’ve learned that not all the time in workplaces, you got to
be strict so that excellence and achievements would be easily attained for in Home
Radio, the media practitioners even those people who work under admin department
were able to finish their task everyday with a smile on their faces.

PSYCHOMOTOR – to summarize all the tasks we worked on the first week, we did the
tasks of an employee under marketing department, admin for paper works and script
writer. On the first day, we were tasked to buy the necessities needed inside the station
such as dishwashing detergents, packs of coffee and other basic things needed by a
person. We went to NCCC grocery store, I guess? and buy the things on the list. After
we accomplished our first task, we directed ourselves inside the mall’s canteen and eat
our favorite snack, Taco, after that we went back to the station. On the other day, I and
Lumelyn was tasked to deposit a cheque worth a big amount of money to the bank the
rest of the days, we stayed inside the station, working for the main radio broadcasters’
scripts and watching how the DJ’s operate on-board while the broadcasters were on air.
Intern Week 2
(December 10 – 14, 2018)

AFFECTIVE – to sum all up, this was the best week of my Internship so far. I had felt so
much excitements when our supervisors finally announced that we were going to
gather news on the field. We were tasked to create our very own news reports and go to
different press conferences again. One of the highlights of this week was the feeling I
got when I and Lumelyn were tasked to do a voice over for their advertisement, and
what amazed me was the moment we heard ourselves on air for many times even
though I felt disgusted while hearing my own voice. Another highlight was when we
were tasked to do on-boarding LIVE! The four of us were tasked to on-board! It caused
me so much of the mixed emotions! This would be the third highlight! It happened
almost the end of the Internship, when we were tasked to go for a press conference at
the City Hall and all of us won a raffle prize! Of course we were so grateful that time for
we couldn’t believe that interns like us would go home with prizes! Lastly, as for the
farewell to the station as well, I, Kim and Gojar really had fun when we were invited by
the fortune thing to attend their Christmas party. Again, we won three raffle prizex and
a hundred bucks char.

COGNITIVE – This week taught me to be grateful of all the blessings you encounter
every journey you walk in your life. I have learned that no matter how tough the
struggles you have to face, there will always be days that would make you question
God, what good things you did to deserve those blessings.

PSYCHOMOTOR – during this week, we were tasked to do a voice-over for their

advertisement, we watched them as they edit it after that we attended press conference.
Actually, every day, the first two days were like normal for us, we woke up at 7, we
observed as the main broadcasters perform on-air, we attended press con and submit
news write-ups after but the rest of the days were more of happy days for us! During
the I-Speak, a weekly press conference at the City Hall, we didn’t expect that we would
won their raffle prizes, we didn’t even know that the attendance we filled up were
meant for that. We didn’t thought of that because what we were thinking of was “we’re
only Interns” not until our names were called, I won an electric stove and a gift cheque
from Gmall worth 2,000 pesos! So, we went back to the station carrying the prizes. The
following days until the last day of the Internship were full of fun and excitement! We
finally were tasked to on-board LIVE. We practiced our skills in radio broadcasting and
its technicalities. The first try was, I was a field reporter, Lumelyn and Kim were the
main station broadcasters, on the other hand Gojar was assigned in the technical part,
while Ma’am Mia and Sir Randy, our supervisors were on the other cubicle, monitoring
our voices. We had 3-4 tries as we attempted to achieve the perfection until our
Supervisor decided to exercise us individually, so instead of us in a group, we must
perform with him individually as the main broadcasters. Lastly, because we were
invited by the company located just beside their station, the Fortune thing, we joined
their Christmas party! Actually, I was planning to head home that time but they forced
me to join to the point that they had to hide my charger and earphones. Again, we won
their raffle prizes and a hundred peso bill.

Intern Week 1
(January 14 – 18, 2019)

AFFECTIVE – the first week was honestly a mixed of relief and fright for us. We were
frightened that we might experience the same exhaustion and stress that we all had
experienced during SMNI Internship and a relief because our first impression was
wrong. We all had a great time working with all the staff in DXRD 711. They were all
approachable and kind to us. They were always available to answer our questions and
heal our confusions. We were glad to meet them.

COGNITIVE – I have learned from my first week of Stay in the station that not because
the people were under the same umbrella, doesn’t mean, they all have the same
intentions. One might really wanted to get rid of the raindrops, while the other one just
wanted to be with someone who wanted to get rid of it despite of the urge feeling of
“want” to walk and enjoy under the rain. I mean, it’s wrong to judge just because they
work under the same institution. Although, they both have the same thought, “it’s
raining” but they might have differences in terms of the views they have towards it. One
might say, it enjoys me, the other one would say it pains me. Just because the other
one caused you heartaches and exhaustion, doesn’t mean the other one closed to him
would do it too.

PSYSCHOMOTOR – on the first week, we only worked inside the station. They first
trained us to write news scripts, refreshing what we had learned from the school.
Everyday, we were tasked to listen, to observe and to translate the news articles from
English to Tagalog and Visayan dialects. We were tasked to gather contacts from
business enterprises for their marketing. That’s all we did for the whole week.
Intern Week 2
(January 14 – 18, 2019)

AFFECTIVE – this week caused as more fun than the first week for we were deployed
to different press conference! We were also glad that they let us sit with them during
their on-board on air. It was an amazing week for us for we met different people from
different press releases. Another thing was, it amazed me really! For this was the first
time that we experienced being called on a phone patch for a news break ON THE
PUBLIC. Example, Jeepneys and along the hallways of the City Hall! It was fun but
nerve cracking at the same time!

COGNITIVE – I have learned that no matter how tiring the job is, if it’s really your
passion, you wouldn’t totally feel it. You would become numb doing all the things you
wanted to do despite of the exhaustion that it would caused you.

PSYCHOMOTOR – The second week was kind of more crucial than the first one. We
were tasked to attend press conference everyday and produce news scripts AS MANY
AS WE CAN to broadcast it via phone patch on-air. We met a lot of new faces including
other on-the-job trainees! We even experienced being called on a phone patch for their
news break inside jeepneys and even along the hallways of the City Hall! We also sat
with the main radio announcer and that was every morning of the second week to
tackle different developmental issues in the countries during their program El Kapitan.
