VALIDATION OF OCCUPATIONAL STANDARDS AND NATIONAL VOCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS

MANAGEMENT LEVEL 4

Qualification Overview
A Level 4 NVQ qualification recognises competence involving the application of a range of fundamental principles and complex techniques across a wide and unpredictable variety of contexts. Very
substantial personal autonomy and often significant responsibility for the work of others and for the allocation of resources, as well as personal accountabilities for analysis, design, planning,
execution and evaluation.

The CARICOM Qualifications Framework states that a person at this level:


 Takes managerial responsibility for the work of others within a defined and supervised structure.
 Takes some responsibility for implementing courses of action exercising some initiative and independence in carrying out defined activities at a professional /equivalent level.
 Manages resources within defined areas of work or study.
 Takes account of roles and responsibilities of self and others in carrying out, completing and evaluating tasks.

Who is the Qualification for?


This level 4 Management qualification is for middle managers and supports the development of their ability to manage individuals and teams. The qualification develops the knowledge and skills
required to take on higher level responsibilities such as implementing change, managing a budget, managing a project and managing information and knowledge in an organisation. It provides skills
and knowledge for individuals entering the management sector in roles including, but not limited to: Manager, Deputy Manager, Duty Manager and Operational Manager.
