TOTAL 43 units

Total number of fixture unit = 43 units

One-unit fixture = 8 gallons

Max demand of water= total fixture unit X 8

= 43x8
= 344 gallons

Probable demand of water is max demand subtracted by reduced demand of 25%-50%. Assume
reduction of 30%

344 x 0.40 = 137.6 gallons = reduction

Probable demand of water = max demand – reduction

= 344 – 137.6 = 206.4 gallons

CALCULATE PRESSURE (p)

P = P(ave.) – P (static)
• Assuming the water district of city is 40 PSI
• 1 ft of water column 0.43 psi
• Length of second floor = 10ft

10 x 0.43 = 4.3 psi up feed needed in second floor

P = 40 psi – 4.3 psi = 35.7 psi (water pressure tank for up feed)
Determining the pipe size and meter size
-from RNPCP table 6.6

-40psi, Max length = 35.3 m

• Water meter size = 25 mm dia
• Service pipe size = 32 mmdia
• Branch pipe size = 32 mm dia

TOTAL 345.6474 sq. m

PIPE SIZE = 125 mm diameter

In reference to table 9-1 in the “plumbing design and estimate textbook by M.B. Fajardo Jr.”, under
the column of 2% slope, a 125 mm (5 inches) pipe will be needed for a roof with 345.6474 sq. m.

In reference to table 9-2 in the “plumbing design and estimate textbook by M.B. Fajardo Jr.”, we can
determine the gutter top sizes and gutter leader sizes using the gutter areas of the roof.

Using technical data in page 92 of “plumbing design and estimate textbook by M.B. Fajardo Jr.”, the
volume of the septic tank should not have liquid content more than 2.0 cu.meters.

For small residential house to serve up to 12 persons, the chamber should have a liquid content of
not more than- 2.0 cu.meters

7 persons * 2 cu. Meter= 14 cu.meter or 104.73 gal
