1. Why the aircraft engine is called a Powerplant?

The name is appropriate because the engine is the one that propels the aircraft through the air. It
is the one that generates power like electricity and heat. The power plant of an airplane, like an
engine of a car, is one of the most crucial components.

2. Explain the 4-stroke-5-events cycle of a reciprocating engine.

The fuel-air mixture is drawn into the cylinder's combustion chamber during the first stroke, also
known as the intake stroke, which occurs when the piston inside the cylinder travels away from
the cylinder head. The cylinder's base is reached once the piston has. Now is the moment to
compress the second stroke. When the intake valve is closed, the piston moves backwards in the
opposite direction. The fuel-air combination is compressed toward the cylinder head because it
has nowhere else to go. We start the third stroke, which sends power to the spark plugs in the
cylinder head, as soon as the piston gets close to the top of the cylinder. Each produces a spark
that ignites the fuel mixture and causes a controlled explosion by setting it ablaze. the cylinder's
base, causing the Piston to be pushed back inward and revolve. Eventually, the crankshaft and
propeller both arrive at the last stroke exhaust, where the exhaust valve opens and the piston
pushes back toward the cylinder head expelling the burned fuel.

3. How do the cam shaft related to crankshaft movement?

They are directly connected by gears to produce synchronized movements. The crankshaft is faster
than the camshaft that lets the valves open twice.

4. Describe the relationship between the throttle and mixture control.

Higher power and rpm are produced when the throttle is opened up because more fuel and air are
introduced into the engine.

5. What is function of venturi shape in the carburetor system?

High speed air rushes past the Venturi. The Venturi's purpose is to lower air pressure. The air flow
accelerates in the small portion as it widens and then narrows again.

6. Explain how cylinder compression check is accomplished.

Simply by putting the compression tester in the cylinder in place of the spark plug and running the
engine through its cycles.

7. Explain how magneto inspection is accomplished.

The only way to test the left Magneto is to turn off the right Magneto. In the right mag position,
nothing has changed. By selecting the right Magneto, the left is turned off. The run-up test you
performed proves the independence of each ignition system.

8. When the alternator belt is loose, how do we usually adjust the tension? Explain how.

Pull alternately or into the proper position after releasing the holding bolt. If the tension is accurate,
we tighten the bolt to secure the tension, and the safety wire needs to be changed.

9. What are the different post inspections check that needs to be performed prior release of the
engine?

The different post inspections check are Plumbing inspection, Building interior, and exterior, HVAC,
lightning, electronics, failure Finding, Full power rpm, idle rpm, magneto check, oil pressure, oil
temperature, cylinder temperature.

10. What are two basic documents that needs to be prepared/provided in accomplishing the 100-hour
inspection?
