1 PURPOSE

The purpose of this Method Statement is to describe the procedure for Indoor plant and landscaping Works,
identifying hazards, environmental issues and mitigation measures for the successful completion of work.

2 SCOPE

Scope of work includes:


• The preparation of the sites
• The supply, placement and rough grading of the top soil to the planting areas.
• The excavation of plant pits, beds and Shrubs areas to suit the required level and disposal of
unsuitable materials.
• The mixing and placing of planting soil in pits and beds and its preparation to receive plants.
• The supply of sweet soil to the Planter area and in situ mixing of planting medium.
• The supply and installation of Indoor pots with plants at specified area.

5.0 RESPONSIBILITY
Project Manager:

• Implementing the construction program and managing /Tracking day-to-day activities as per programme
schedule.
• Arranging resources for the timely completion of the project.
• Ensuring that work personnel meet the minimum qualifications for their assignment and are properly
trained.
• In charge of maintaining safety standards by all staff and ensuring that they have required HSE training.
• Responsible for the overall management of the mixing of fertilizer, installation and execution of landscaping
works as per specification and approved drawings.
• To ensure that the team of Engineers and foremen are aware of this MS and all the resources area
available to carry out the work as planned.
• To liaise with the RE to ensure timely approval of WIR’s, Shop Drawing etc.
• He will prepare a plan/maintenance program to ensure the plants established healthy growth.

5.1 QA/QC Manager

• Inspect all material / equipment received at site for the work in compliance with approved RAM.
• Attend all inspection as per IR notification & ensure acceptance of Engineer.
• Maintain all test reports and inspection reports at site.
• Ensure corrective and preventive actions are effective.
• Reporting and monitoring of non-conformance status.

5.2 Site Engineer


• He should be well versed in all landscaping aspects from plant nomenclature and selection.
• Ensures the plants selected for the project are healthy and transported to the site without any damage.
• He is responsible to create an imported homogeneous planting media by taking in to consideration all
aspects of specification.
• He will follow the best horticultural practices in planting scheduling, planting establishment and
maintenance.
• He will prepare and execute a fertilization and plant protection program and ensures this is carried out
according to the best horticultural practices.
• He should be the team leader for the maintenance staff during the growth establishment and maintenance
period.
• To ensure that all equipment required for the works are available and in good condition.
• To ensure that all technical matters and changes in drawings are discussed with the work force.

• He will coordinate with the Project Manager on a daily basis and will ensure proper distribution of the
workforce and equipment at required locations.
• He will be aware of the possible risk hazards involved with excavation and comply with all safety
requirements prior to start of the activity.

He should give proper Tool Box Talk to his crew for safe handling of work
5.3 HSE Manager
• He will Responsible for ensuring implementation of all safety Procedure, safety measures related to the
nature of works being carried out and in accordance to the HSE Plan/HEMP.
• Safety officers will maintain continuous inspection of the site activities advice and train involved persons
on a daily basis to prevent accidents, personnel injury and property damage.

6.0 HSE REQUIREMENTS

HSE requirements shall meet the commitments of Contractor and the sub-contractors directly on site as
described in the COMPANY approved Project HSE Plan.
As a general understanding of requirements, the following shall be observed as mandatory for the
activities being covered in this method statement and it shall be the responsibility of all personnel involved in
safe execution of the construction activities

Health

• During hot summer adequate water to be taken and whole body to be protected from direct sun
rays.
• Hydrolyte Powder / ORS shall be available at site during summer.

Safety

• Method statements for all activities shall be in place and discussed with workers.

• All the new members of the team shall undergo a safety induction course in order to be aware of
the work plus any other company mandated HSE requirement.

• All employees on site shall undergo DUQM medical prior to deployment at site.

• All equipment/vehicles shall be inspected by PSJV HSE and approval sticker provided to the
vehicle.

• All lifting tools / Tackles and equipment shall have third party valid certification before use.

• Foreman shall be available at site.

• HSE compliance shall be ensured as per approved HSE plan and procedures.

• Workmen shall have all relevant PPE like safety helmet, shoe, and coverall as necessary for the
job.

• Only Experienced technicians / skilled workman shall be allowed to undertake the job.

• Adequate fire extinguisher shall be provided in the vicinity as per requirements.

• First aid kit shall be available at site and certified first aider assigned for the project.

• A tool box meeting shall be conducted by job performer to brief all concerned about Do’s and
Don’ts. Special coverage of salient points related to the job undertaken and risk involved, including
course of action in case of emergency, shall be ensured during the session.

• All work permits shall be available and approved prior to commencing any work as required.

• Emergency arrangements shall be ensured as described in Emergency Response Plan.

• Scaffold shall be erected for any work above at height identified as per approved HSE plan and
erect by competent scaffolder. Scaffolds shall be inspected as and when required by competent
supervisor and Scaff tag shall be displayed.

8.0 METHODOLOGY

8.1 Growing medium for Indoor plants


• components use to form the plant growing medium for indoor plants will include PotGrond and peat moss
in the ratio of 3:1 * These fertilizers inputs shall be mixed in-situ and filled in pots and not allowed for any
trespassing. * After 1-2 months nutrients (PLANT FOOD – AGROLEAF POWER HIGH K 15-10-31+TE)
can be added in the form of foliar or directly to the potting media.
• Indoor plants will be planted along with the filling of potting media mix in the pots at site.
• Keep the potting soil moist- It’s important to make sure soil is not too wet nor too dry
• Place your plant near a light source, whether it’s natural or artificial

8.2 Self-watering system and how it works.


• The go green watering system has been designed so that your plants can grow properly and always be
healthy and beautiful with minimal care.

• Ideal for both indoor and outdoor areas.


• Easy planting and change of plants.
• Less soil/ underlay is required.
• Ideal moisture content in the soil. Includes a special absorbent material that carries the amount of water
needed by the plant.
• Water level control

8.3 Shrubs, Succulents and Ornamental Grass.


The following steps shall follow for Shrub’s planting.
• The selected Shrubs, Succulents and Ornamental Grass shall be cleaned and watered at the farm/nursery
prior to start transporting to the site.
• Shrubs, Succulents and Ornamental Grass shall be loaded in covered vehicle and to be transported to the
site.
• Trench/pit excavation (as specified) at the site of planting shall be carried out.
• Trench/pit shall be backfilled prior bringing plants to the site, and after backfilling watering shall be carried
out to avoid the air pocket in the root zone for proper growth of roots.
• Plants shall be lifted from the covered vehicle and will be placed in the pit and upon confirming correct
installation location.
• Suitable staking shall be provided for holding the plant straight .and tied up with the suitable tie.
• After planting, basin will be made to hold adequate amount of water.
• Excavated material shall be disposed at suitable dumping yard and site shall be made clean.

8.4 Ground Cover / Seasonal /Lawn - Stolon’s


The following steps shall follow for Ground Cover planting.
• The selected Ground cover/Lawn shall be watered at the farm/nursery prior to start transporting to the site.
• Excavation (as specified) at the site of planting shall be carried out.
• Excavated area shall be backfilled prior bringing plants to the site, and after backfilling watering shall be
carried out to avoid the air pocket in the root zone for proper growth of roots.
• Ground cover/Seasonal/ Lawn Stolon’s shall be transported to the site and shall be planted as per
specified spacing.
• After planting, adequate amount of irrigation shall be done.
• Excavated material shall be disposed at suitable dumping yard and site shall be made clean.

8.5 Delivery, Storage and Handling

• Material shall be obtained/delivered from approved site storage area.


• All material is to be protected during handling.
• All material indoor plant and pots will be stored in Air condition Hall/Store area provided by the main
contractor at site.
• Precautions shall also be taken to protect items sensitive to sunlight or heat or shade.

9. Source of Pots, Indoor Plants and External plant stock

• External plants - Nursery/Farm at Barka-Muscat will be the source of plant stock.


• Plant will be protected by shade from wind, dust and sun scorching.
• Plant shall be provided with an adequate and regular supply of irrigation water and care.
• Indoor plants – Shell be from holland and be delivered to Project site upon air-condition store made
available by main contractor.
• Pots – Shell be from Greece to Project at site upon air-condition store made available by main contractor.
