CHAPTER 1

The Problem

Due to emergency of COVID-19 in the Philippines, a lot


changes happened in education the current COVID-19 crisis
has obliged most education system to adopt alternative to
face to face teaching and learning. May education system
moved activities online to allow instructions to continue
despite school closure the shift of the Teaching and
learning delivery in school to modular distance learning
made more challenges on the part of the school personal,
the delivery of basic quality education. That why avenues
to solve the problems and capacitating it’s teacher and
school head to become move effective in the field of
modular distance learning the use of modules encourage
independent study. One of the benefits of using modules for
instruction in the acquisition of better self-study of
learning skills among student. Student. Student engaged
themselves. In learning the concept

In face to face classroom we found to be related to


significant positive or negative effects the factors that
were tested include academic content area grade level of
student, role of the instruction, timing of instruction
preparation and experience education, and the setting of
the student.

Modular learning is the most popular type of distance


learning .In the Philippines this learning modality is
correctly use by all. Public because according to survey
conducted by the department of education (DEP-ED) learning
through printed and digital module s changes as the most
preferred distance learning method of parents with children
who are enrolled this academic year (BERNARDO J)this also
in consideration of the learner rural areas where internet
is not acceptable for online learning.

Modular distance learning is in the form of individual
instruction that allows learner for use self-learning
modules SLMS in print digital format/election copy
whichever is all in the context of the learner and
resources.

An online survey conducted by the multispectral group


movement for safe equitable quality relevant education
SEQUARE found that 86.7% of the alternative made of
learning compared with the traditional face to face set up.

The survey also found only 5.4% under the blended


learning 5.7% under modular learning and 9.1% under online
learning the survey. Was conducted from June 25 to July
among 1.278 teacher. 1.299 grade 4 to 12 student and
3.1.172 parent.

STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM

The study determine

1. What is the demographic profile of the respondents in


terms of;
1.1 Sex
1.2 Age
1.3 Strand
1.4 Educational attainment of the parents
2. What are the challenges met in modular distance
learning of grade 11 student of Sagrada National High
School.
3. What possible Solution will be formulated to address
the challenges met in modular distance learning?
4. What Recommendation or suggestions can be formulated
based on the findings of the study?

ASSUMPTION OF THE STUDY

This study focused on the challenges met in modular
learning in sagrada senior high school. The following
assumptions were made:

1. The Profile of the Respondents can be determined.

2. The challenges met in modular distance learning of the


respondents can be identified.

3. Recommendation can be formulated based on the findings


of the study.

SIGNIFICANCE OF THE STUDY

Modular learning or modular distance learning is a


common or most popular type of system learning due to
COVID-19.

STUDENT: The study will benefit the senior high school


grade 11 student because they are the subject of this
research and will lead them to an advise if there’s
negative implication.

TEACHER: The research will benefits the teacher far the


purpose of having knowledge about challenges of grade 11
student on modular distance learning modalities. They are
exposed to student every online, they can make an advise
after result has concluded.

PARENTS: This research will benefits the parent for them to


know is they need to be patient focus, and acknowledge
their children’s effort.

SCHOOL: This study will also benefits the school by giving


tem awareness an what are the factors affecting the senior
high school time management when it comes to their student
this will result of having poor
3 grade on the student
performance and one of the factors include, is the usage of
technology.

COMMUNITY: As for the whole community this study will be


able to give. Them benefits through insight on how to be an
effective person in knowing the time management. Everyone
will be aware of what will be results if we can’t manage on

time effectively, all own work will be crowded and not
organized therefore there’s no progress in our action.

FUTURE RESEARCHER: Researchers in the future can use the


output of this study in their research about managing time
efficiently and effectively finding of this improvement of
the management and they will be guided of the results on
how to handle this kind of study.

RESEARCHERS TIMESELVES: This finding of this study will


also help the findings of this study will also student, to
how the value of important in deadline with. Time
effectively. An a learner-centerd public institution, the
department of education continuously improve itself to
better serve its stakeholders.

LOCALE OF THE STUDY

Sagrada national high (SNHS) particularly the senior


high school department is the locale of the study. Sagrada
national high school formerly sagrada HS is a depend
managed monograde public secondary school located in 3rd
district of CAMRINES SUR. School with no Annexes. It is the
oldest barangay high school in bicol region, it first
operates on June 01,1966 and almost in its 56th anniversary.

SCHOOL’S MISSION AND VISION

MISSION

To protect and promote the right of every Filipino to


quality, equitable, culture based and complete basic
education where:

-Student learn in a child-friendly gender-sensitive, safe


and motivating environment.

-Teachers facilities learning and constantly nurture every


learner.

SCOPE OF THE DELIMITATION OF THE STUDY

The study focused on determining challenges met in


modular distance learning of Grade 11 students in Sagrada
National High School. The study was conducted during the
school year 2020-2021 the subject were all selected of
grade 11 student in Sagrada national high school.

DEFINITION TERMS

The following are the conceptual and operational


definition of significant terms used in this study.

CHALLENGES: TO arouse or stimulate especially by


presenting with difficulties.
