Objective:

Study the functional zones, services and site planning of a hospital & design a 200 bedded hospital.

Introduction:

The Panjab Government has earmarked land for a Medi-City in the approved Master Plan of New
Chandigarh. A private entrepreneur proposes to augment the health care facilities of the New
Chandigarh region and has been allotted a parcel of land measuring 5 acres in the Medi-City for
constructing a 200-bedded hospital.

Give a design proposal for this hospital after understanding its functional zones within the overall
goal of facilitating the patients as well as create an excellent ambiance for the doctors, nurses, para-
medical as well as technical personnel and all other users of the hospital. Due importance be given
to the aspects of structure, services and site planning while aiming to achieve an optimal circulation
and zoning pattern for the hospital. The hospital site plan along with development controls of the 5
acre plot within the Medi-City, New Chandigarh is attached. Detailed requirements of the 200-
bedded hospital are also appended herewith.
