SIMPLE PRESENT

Forma afirmativa:

Sujeto + verbo

I play football

En la tercera persona del singular (he, she, it) se añade una -s al verbo:

He plays football.

She writes a letter

Excepciones:

- Si el verbo acaba en -s, -ss, -sh, -ch, -x, -o, se añade -es

To go: he goes

To watch: she watches

- Si el verbo acaba en y precedida de una consonante, se cambia la y por i y se añade -


es.

To study: he studies.

Forma negativa:

Sujeto + do/does + not + verbo (infinitivo sin to)

(does se utiliza en la tercera persona del singular)

I do not (don't) play football

She does not (doesn't) watch TV.


Forma interrogativa:

Do/does + sujeto + verbo?

Do you play tennis?

When does she go to the cinema?

Usos del Presente Simple:

1. Acciones que se realizan habitualmente. Con este uso se suelen utilizar:

a. Expresiones de tiempo que indican que la acción se realiza habitualmente:

Every day, every week, in the morning, in the afternoon...

Once a day/a week/a month/a year.

Twice a day/a week/a month/a year.

Three times a day/a week/a month/a year.

...

He goes to the cinema once a week.

b. Adverbios de frecuencia.

Always, usually, never, sometimes, often, seldom...

She often goes to the theatre.
