1.1. Objective
To verify Thevenin’s Theorem for a linear network.
1.2. Apparatus
DC power supply, Digital Multimeter (DMM), Breadboard, Voltmeter, Ammeter,
Resistors, and connecting wires.
1.3. Procedure
1. Calculate the value of open circuit voltage, Thevenin’s equivalent resistance and the
current through the load resistance (RL) using Thevenin’s theorem in Figure 6.
2. Remove the load resistor RL in Figure 6 and note down the reading of voltmeter as
VTh (VBD).
3. Find out RTh by shorting the voltage and measuring the equivalent resistance across
open circuited RL (100Ω) terminals using a multimeter.
4. Connect the Thevenin’s equivalent circuit and note down the reading of ammeter.
5. If current through the load resistance using Thevenin’s theorem is equal to the
measured value of the current from Figure 6, Thevenin’s Theorems is verified.

after we finished this experiment, we can conclude that Thevenin’s theorem it is possible to
simplify any linear circuit, no matter how complex, to an equivalent circuit with just a single
voltage source and series resistance connected to a load.
