STATEMENT OF PURPOSE

Writing a personal statement to study at University of Portsmouth as Md. Nafiz Imtiaz Khan, a
Bangladeshi citizen, is like a dream come true. I'd like to pursue an MSc in Accounting and
Finance at the University of Portsmouth, which has a five-star rating. I've always been
fascinated by the worlds of accounting and finance, and I've had a great interest in them since I
was a child. My father was the owner of multiple family businesses, and I spent the most of my
childhood in this environment with him. One thing that attracted me to business related courses
is that accounting and finance is the backbone to every successful business, without proper
account keeping and finance it is almost impossible for any type of business to survive especially
in the economic crisis that surrounds us today.

In terms of my educational background, I graduated from the International University of

Business Agriculture and Technology in 2019 with a CGPA of 3.45 on a scale of 4 in Business
Administration. Prior to starting my bachelor's, I received a 4.20 out of 5 GPA on my HSC in
2014 and a 4.06 out of 5 GPA on my SSC in 2012.

The MSc Accounting and Finance degree program is the best approach for me to pursue my
goals. I'll learn how to produce and evaluate financial statements, as well as how to monitor,
control, and plan for an organization's long-term success, through this course. I'll also learn how

principles and practices like Behavioral Finance, Business Planning, Business Valuation,
Corporate Finance, Corporate Governance and Ethics, Financial Accounting, Accounting and
Financial Management Dissertation, Managerial Finance and Portfolio Theory, Statistics and
Data Modeling, and Strategic Management Accounting, as well as how they affect global
business. In addition, I'll learn transferable abilities like analytical and problem-solving strategies
that will be useful in any work setting.

I chose the University of Portsmouth because it is one of the world's most prestigious universities
in these fields and one of the most well-known in the United Kingdom. It is a university in the
United Kingdom that focuses on design and specialization. The University of Portsmouth is one
of only four universities in the south east to receive the top Teaching Excellence Framework
Gold rating (TEF). In the Times and Sunday Times Good University Guide 2020, the university
was ranked as the top 150th Young University. The university was recently ranked towards the
top of the Good University Guide — issued by The Times and Sunday Times – in the 2022
edition. Over 60% of the University's research submitted to REF2014 was classified as world-
leading or internationally good. In Times Higher Education's 2017 '100 under 50' rankings of
international modern universities, the University was ranked 98th.

The United Kingdom's education system is devolved matter. Higher education in the United
Kingdom, in particular, is famous for its high standards and excellence throughout the world.
British colleges have produced many famous people in a variety of fields whose work has
received worldwide acclaim. The United Kingdom offers a high-quality education system that
has been welcoming international students and providing top-notch education for many years.
Degrees earned in the United Kingdom are highly regarded throughout the world, particularly in
Bangladesh. Graduates from the United Kingdom are valued by employers. According to
surveys, these graduates are well-educated, possess the necessary abilities, and provide excellent
outcomes. This is why, I am confident that I will continue my studies in the United Kingdom in
order to increase my value in the workplace, allowing me to achieve my long-term aim

I am optimistic that when I return to my home country with my newly gained skills and
competence, I'll be able to get a job as an Account Executive in Bangladesh's top companies,
such National Data Centre, Pubali Engineering & Construction Ltd, Bangladesh Technosity Ltd
and others. My family will cover my educational expenses, and after I finish my course, I will
return to my own country.
