Dear Sir or Madam,

I am writing this letter to express my interest in the bachelor program in the Cyber Security at
Tallinn University of Technology. I am currently completing my last year of high school
education in Bilim-Innovation High School for gifted boys in Kazakhstan.

In June 2020, I am going to finish my high school in Kokshetau in Kazakhstan and receive the
High school Diploma. In high school, I am majoring in the natural sciences. During my studies, I
have taken the most advanced courses in mathematics and physics available to challenge
myself and make sure that I will be well prepared for University. Even though sometimes it was
hard to follow this combination of courses, due to a really hard workload, I have been giving my
best to obtain good grades.

I have always been passionate about innovative technologies and their ways of the appliance.
My interest in programming and computers began to express itself most clearly during my high
school when I first came across computer coding on C++. In the academic year 2015-2017, I
participated in preparatory courses in computer science. This made me gain experience, on one
hand in informatics, and on the other hand in social relations. I learned to be more creative, to
listen to other people's opinions and I developed my communication abilities, along with
improving my skills in programming. In addition, throughout my studies at the Lyceum during the
lessons (3 times a week), we took various courses at Notepad ++, Photoshop, and also in Cisco
Networking Academy. From 2017 to 2019 (September), I was an English language olympiad at
our lyceum. During these 2 years, I managed to participate in several regional competitions and
be the organizer of events at the Lyceum. I was also on the team that represented our Lyceum
at the Presidential Olympiad.

Throughout these 4 years, I have improved and broadened my knowledge in coding and have
experienced different coding programs like "Dev C++", "Notepad++", "CodeBlocks"(2 years of
coding on this application). Moreover, I participated in many regional and national contests
where I faced new challenges and learned more about this field. In 2016, I received silver at the
National Informatics Olympiad KBO.

Thanks to the summer preparatory camp, I have completed training course of the well-known
International computer academy in 2018. My training was focused on themobile development,
and thanks to my mentors, I have learned about HTML, CSS, and Python for the first time.
During the course, I have learned what the basics of mobile coding are and how to create the
database. This experience was extremely important for my professional development because
knowledge of mobile development is essential for the work of one computer expert.

Throughout my schooling, I have always participated in opportunities that would enhance my

leadership and team working skills. For example, I took part in the volunteering movement. At
school, I was a member of a volunteer club “Zhyly zhurek” (“Warm heart”). Apart from that, we
had a big volunteering-charity in the summer of 2019 in the city, called “YARKOkross Jungle”.

Being a volunteer makes me feel that I bring, although small, but at least some benefit to the
environment and future generations. Furthermore, being helpful was one of the main criteria for
choosing a profession. The knowledge that I will gain at your university I would like to use at the
state level to improve the security of leakage of information of large companies or the state
itself. The second main criterion was the choice of the IT field. My view fell on cybersecurity
because there is a lot of diversity. By this, I mean that cybersecurity professionals get the
opportunity to work directly with teams on technologies and systems that they have never
dreamed of. From robots to automobiles and websites serving millions and millions of users, the
variety is almost endless. On the one hand, hackers are like viruses, that always “multiply” and
“improve”, and the cybersecurity experts play the role of doctors for these “viruses”. Moreover,
this game will last forever. Because of this, there is almost unlimited growth. With an ever-
expanding field of application, cybersecurity provides maximum growth potential - both in your
career and in learning opportunities. It was a real luck for me to learn about TalTech from my
friend. For me, this university is the most suitable. The university has a high level of education,
as evidenced by the high ratings within the country itself and comparing it with foreign ones.
The students here are very talented (they were even able to build the First driverless formula
vehicle in Estonia and a self-driving car) which have great career prospects. According to
statistics, 79% of graduates of university at the end of the cybersecurity program find a job,
which is a fascinating indicator. According to the video on the Instagram page of the university,
that the society in this university can be emphasized not only as a very smart but also as a very
friendly and united.

Ultimately, I believe that my academic achievements, active participation in and out of school,
and my commitment to cybersecurity make me a competitive candidate for your university. I
look forward to studying at TalTech University and hope to become part of the young
enthusiasts of the innovation movement, aimed at improving our world

Thank you very much for considering my application.

Yours faithfully,

Batyrkhan Shakhputov.
