LETTER OF APPEAL

Greetings to our beloved President!

I wrote this letter on behalf of the students who were appealing in concern with our cafeteria
charges. Last semester (June-December 2021) we are charged to have 16,000 pesos as our food
allowance and every card amounts to 2,000 pesos. However, last December we didn’t have the time to
get the remaining meal cards that we did not yet consume. I just consumed five meal cards that amount
to 10,000 pesos only, and some of my friends too. By that, we are hoping that in the opening of the next
semester (Last January 2022) we will still get those remaining food allowances. We tried to approach our
DSF that month and Mr. Mostrales, the one in charge of releasing meal cards was not around and is on
sick leave according to them, we tried to go there almost every week to see if he is already present but
unfortunately, he’s on leave for a month. The next month (February), Pr. Castillo our former Vice
President of Student Affairs announces that there is already a policy that meal cards will no longer be
used for an extended time, first-semester meal cards will not be valid anymore for the second semester,
and that is from our DSF. We asked Pr. Castillo if that means we cannot have a chance to get our
remaining meal cards and he told us we can still have them. Thinking that the policy is just effective for
the second semester, we tried again to reach out to DSF and they let us write our name on the list
unfortunately they told us they had confirmed that we did not go home during the December holidays
and that is the reason why we cannot get our previous remaining meal cards. I tried to tell them that I
went home for a week but sadly it is not still valid according to them. But as a nursing student whose
tuition and fees are so expensive, I couldn’t totally accept their reason and same to my friends who are
also struggling financially. “Meal cards are not refundable because it’s consumable” yes, we agree to
their statement, but we did not consume any of the remaining meal cards for we are not told to get
them all before they leave for a month.

Just this week we have our TES (Tertiary Education Subsidy) and they have already deducted the full
cafeteria charge of 16,000 pesos last semester.

We respectively appeal, to whatever the solution we can have for this matter will be truly appreciated.

Sincerely yours,

Zyrelle Libalib
