UNDERSTANDING: QUANTITATIVE RESEARCH

Title

I learned the most are the meaning of quantitative research, the seven
characteristics, the kinds of of quantitative research and its importance across fields. A
quantitative research is an objective, systematic, empirical investigation of observable
phenomena through the use of computational techniques. It is concern with numbers
and its relationship with events. I mentioned earlier that I also learned the most the
seven characteristics to begin – Firstly, Objective – which quantitative research seeks
accurate measurement and analysis of target concepts. Cleary Defined Research
Questions – which research questions are well-defined for which objective answers are
sought. Structured Research Instruments – which data are normally gathered using
structured research tools. Numerical Data – which data are in the forms of numbers
and statistics. Large Sample Sizes – which to arrived at more reliable data random
sampling is required. Replication – which studies are need to be repeated to verify and
confirm the correctness of result. Lastly , Future Outcomes – which By using complex
mathematical calculations and with the aid of computers, if-then scenarios may be
formulated thus predicting future results. The six kinds of quantitative research are the
Descriptive - describes the nature, characteristics and components of the population
or a phenomenon, Correlational – extent of relationships that exists between or among
the variables, Experimental – most conclusive of all scientific methods , Causal –
cause for, consequences of, differences between groups of people, Survey – obtains
data to determine specific characteristics of a group and Historical Research – some
aspect of the past is studied. Quantitative Research is important across these fields :
Business, Political Science, Psychology, Medicine, Economics , Demographics and
Education. What I learned the least is the strength and weakness of the quantitative
research, I found it hard to understand and remembered as it complicated my thinking
skills because of the other parts of this lesson.
