Crescent Wrench

The Crescent Wrench (also know as Adjustable Wrench) is a tool with one fixed and one
movable jaw. For quickly tightening and loosing bolts of various sizes, there is no tool that is
better suited than the Crescent Wrench. They come in a range of sizes, from comically small,
to 30 inches. You can easily adjust the jaw width by turning the screw mechanism on the side
of the wrench. The Crescent Wrench has 4 parts: the handle with fixed jaw, the pin or Axle, the
adjustable jaw, and the worm screw or Kurl.

• Handle with Fixed Jaw: The fixed jaw of the tool provides grip on one side of a bolt
head. And the handle provides leverage to loosen or tighten bolts.
• Pin or Axle: This part fits inside the Worm Gear and holds it in place while turning.
• Adjustable Jaw: This jaw slides laterally to adjust to multiple sizes of bolt heads.
• Worm Screw: This part meshes with the adjustable jaw, moving it laterally.

Whenever there is a need to tighten or loosen a bolt, and you don’t know the exact size, the
Crescent Wrench will work just fine. They come in many different sizes, depending on how
heavy or light your work is, you may want a 10-inch, 6-inch, 4-inch, or even 2-inch Crescent
Wrench. I have used many different Crescent Wrench’s on almost every size of bolt, and while
they don’t have the grip strength of Sockets, the ability to quickly transition from one sized bolt
to another is invaluable.
Companies Like Jamestown USA, Klein Tools, and Pittsburgh, make wrenches of many
different sizes and allows. The Crescent wrench is a stable of hand tools, found everywhere
from a contractor’s toolbox to the International Space Station.
