1.0 Purpose
This procedure is to establish guideline for the construction of Working platform inside the
Staircase in order to facilitate the construction of the Permanent Stair and Landing in Central
Control Building South East and South West Portion.

2.0 Scope
This procedure is applicable in accordance with the attached drawing intended for the
construction of the Proposed Working Platform inside the Staircase of Central Control Building.

2.1 PROCEDURE
a. Survey Works
b. D25 – Steel Reinforcement Dowel Installation
c. 2 x 4 - Wooden Girt & Joist Installation Works
d. 19 mm thick Plywood Sheeting Works

3.0 Roles and Responsibilities


3.1 VPCI Project Manager - shall be the overall responsible for the implementation of this
procedure ensuring that works are completed as required and in conformity with
attached drawings.

3.2 VPCI Project EHS Manager shall ensure safe implementation of this procedure promoting an
Incident and Injury free environment.

3.3 VPCI & GTC Global Inc. QA/QC Engineer shall be responsible for the proper
implementation of construction standards. Ensure that this written method statement
and corresponding inspection of this particular work shall be carried out respectively.

3.4 GTC Global Inc. Construction Manager – shall have the overall responsibility for the
direction, monitoring, coordination and control of all the construction activities attached
and related to this work and the overall Health and Safety procedure.

3.5 GTC Global Inc. HSE Supervisor along with the Safety Officer shall ensure
implementation of all safety procedures, safety measures related to the nature of works
being carried out and in accordance with the HSE Plan.

3.6 GTC Global Site Supervisor shall be directly involved in the planning and execution of
the activities. He shall be responsible for the preparation of work plan, safety action
plan and safety as required.

5.0 Procedure
5.1 - SURVEYING
5.1.0 All elevation and alignment shall be established by the Surveyor accordingly.

5.1.1 Surveyor shall ensure that the alignment and elevation are properly set and checked
prior to the installation of Steel Reinforcement Dowels.

5.1.2 Survey check shall be conducted by GTC Surveyors to ensure the elevation and
alignments of dowels are properly in placed prior to concrete pouring.

5.2 - D25 – Steel Reinforcement Dowel Installation

5.2.1 Inside the Staircase North and South Wall, D20 Steel Reinforcement Dowel Bar
shall be installed and will be spaced every 1.0 meter horizontally at the same
elevation.

5.2.2 Reinforcing Steel Bars Diameter 20 mm Dowel dimension shall be as per attached
drawing and will be installed 300 mm below the Third Floor Slab Elevation 19.00
Meters.

5.2.3 Prior to form closure, D20 mm dowel reinforcement installation shall be inspected
and approved by GTC QC Engineer.

5.2.4 Plywood form will be used as formwork system on the wall. Form dimensions shall
be as per requirement that will facilitate easy installation and removal after the
concrete pouring.

5.2.5 Plywood Forms will be fastened by pipe as horizontal and vertical studs pipe after
elevation and alignment is confirmed.

5.2.6 Sufficient supports and bracings will be provided to keep the form in place to restrain
the lateral pressure during concrete pouring and additional movement imposed by
vibrator during the consolidation of the concrete.

5.2.7 After the concrete pouring of the wall, the form will be removed only after 24 hours
after the concrete pouring.

5.2.8 The curing of the wall will be by water curing.

5.3 - 2 x 4 Wooden Lumber Installation for the Girt and Joist

5.3.1 Check the D20 Steel Reinforcement Dowel Alignment and Elevation

5.3.2 After checking the elevation and alignment of the D20 Steel Reinforcement Dowels
and Adjustment of the difference on the Elevation and Alignment as required for
the installation of the 2 x 4 Wooden Lumber Girt and Joist proceed the Girt and Joist
installation respectively

5.3.3 Install the 2 - 2 x 4 Wooden Lumber Girt on the Top of the D20 Steel
Reinforcement dowel flushed on the surface of the Concrete Wall and fasten with
Concrete Nail to restrain any movement. This Girt shall be installed on both inside
face of the North and South Wall of the Staircase.
5.3.4 After the complete installation of the 2 x 4 Wooden Lumber Girt proceed the 2 x 4
Wooden Lumber Joist Installation which are spaced every 400 mm center to center.

5.4 - 19 mm Thick Plywood Sheeting Works

5.4.1 Install the 19 mm thick Plywood Sheet on the top of the 2 x 4 Wooden Lumber Joist.

5.4.2 Plywood Sheet shall be fixed on the Joist by nailing to restrain movement.

5.4.3 After the Plywood Sheeting the Platform is considered complete and will served as
working platform for the next stage of work like Steel Reinforcement Installation
and Form Installation.

5.4.4 Removal of the Underlying Scaffolding System previously installed as Working


Platform and Access will be dismantled and removed accordingly to facilitate the
construction of the Permanent Stair and Landing.

5.4.5 Proceed for the construction of the Permanent Stair and Landing accordingly.

6.0 Environment, Health and Safety

6.1 All personnel must wear appropriate PPE at all times. Personnel are empowered to stop
work if safety precautions are not in place.

6.2 The Job Site Supervisor shall ensure that all Safety requirements are put in practice, copy of
MS and JHA (Attached) are available on site for guidance and consultation.

6.3 Contractor Safety Representative shall carry out the safety site inspection to ensure the
safety requirements laid out in the safe work plan are followed during and after the completion of
the works.

6.4 Job Site Supervisor and Safety Representative shall be present at all time while works are in
progress.

6.5 Appropriate PTW to be prepared and implemented, modification without OWNER approval is
prohibited.

6.6 Assessed risk as necessary and communicated to concerned parties prior to start of any
work.

6.7 Safety Briefing / Tool Box Talk must be conducted by Supervisors prior to start of work in the
language of workforce.

6.8 Incidents and injuries, damaged to property or near misses should be reported.

6.9 Good housekeeping to be maintained during the execution of activity.

6.10 A clear and good communication must be maintained by all personnel involved on the
activity.

6.11 Personnel must be trained/experienced and familiarized with the scope of works to be
undertaken. The location of marshal point must be identified, emergency evacuation procedure
must be clear to all workers exercises must be conducted as required.

6.12 Contractor Safety Manager / Representative shall review Safety Action Plan.
