Greenpeace 2012, ‘Nuclear power: dirty, dangerous and expensive’, Greenpeace International

The energy industries have experienced significant changes. As a result, nuclear power is

widely believed to grow in popularity. Greenpeace International published an article titled

“Nuclear power: dirty, dangerous and expensive” in 2012 to reckon that nuclear energy is

risky. This article shows the detrimental effects of nuclear energy on social life, people, the

government, and the environment. This article is for people of all walks of life to have access

to information.

Greenpeace has referenced the disastrous effects of atomic energy on humanity. In essence,

nuclear reactors are unsafe. After Chernobyl and Fukushima exposed the fundamental flaws of

the reactors and highlighted serious institutional failures in nuclear safety oversight. In the two

nuclear disasters, a large number of radioactive emissions were released and had a profound

impact on life. When a nuclear disaster occurs, the radiation can exert profound implications

on the citizen. The construction of nuclear power plants is extremely expensive and time-

consuming. This problem persists with many projects around the world. Used nuclear and

other radioactive waste are considered to be a long-term risk. Most of it negatively impacts the

environment, natural resources, and social life.

This report provides factual information on the consequences of using nuclear energy clearly,

using basic language so that non-experts have a deep understanding of the article. Not only

that, the article is also bolded with topic sentences to make it easy for readers to find

information. On the other hand, the author mainly focused on the detrimental impacts of

nuclear energy. However, the writer neglects the bright points of this energy use. Moreover,

this reading is not structured properly when the lack of a conclusion makes the reader not

appreciate the content.

In conclusion, Greenpeace has brought information about the consequences and negative

effects of nuclear energy. Indeed, nuclear energy still has many limitations that need to be

overcome, so countries should research more solutions to adapt to this industrial activity.
