Are you ready to pray, class? -Yes, we are.

Dear God our Father, we praise and

world. Forgive us for the sins that we
have done. We give you thanks Oh
God Almighty for all the blessings
you had given us most especially for
the Blessing of life. Thank you for
guiding us all throughout our life. Oh
God, we ask for your guidance in
everything we are going to do. Give
us hope and strength to overcome
every struggle we will face. Give us
the knowledge we need for our
discussion today. We pray this in
3. Classroom Management Jesus name, Amen.
The student were asked by the teacher to
clean their areas especially under their
chairs.

4. Checking of the Attendance

The teacher will call students one by one
to check if there are some absents, and who
they are.

5. Checking of the assignment

The students will pass their assignments
in front, and to be check by the teacher.

6. Review the past lesson

Let us now recall, what is our previous we discussed the Product of

Alright. Since we are now done with

Product of Binomials, let us now proceed
with Special Products of Square of a

ANALYSIS
notice in our table?
there are different colors ma’am
Okay, aside from different colors?
they have numbers
That’s right!
What else? Every color, they have different
terms.
And also what?
They have their patterns ma’am
Exactly! Very Good.

To summarize it up all, each color have their

corresponding terms.

So when we have common terms we just

combine them.

So, today since our topic is Special Product

of Squaring a Binomial were going to used a
pattern.

In Squaring a Binomial using Special

Product, you will not be using Foil method
or Distributive.

The square of a binomial is the sum of:

the square of the first terms, twice the
product of the two terms, and the
square of the last term.

I know this sounds confusing, so take a

look..

Here are the following examples

Example 1:

Example 2:

No ma’am

Do you have any questions?

Okay then. Let us have your seatwork.

Seatwork:
ABSTRACTION
Square the following binomials using the
pattern that you have learned.

1. (x +1)2
2. (x - 2)2

3. (5x + 2)2
4. (2x - 3)2
5. (3x + 2)2
6. (4x + 2y)2
7. (3a - 2b)2
8. (3m + 9)2
9. (7c + 4)2
10. (4x + 3)2

Fold to Square
APPLICATION
In this activity, you will model the square
of a binomial through paper folding.
Investigate the pattern that can be produced
in this activity. This pattern will help you
find the square of a binomial easily. (You
can do this by pair)

Directions: Get a square paper measuring

“8 x 8”.
1.Fold the square paper 1 with from an edge
and make a crease.
2. Fold the upper right corner by 1 and make
a crease.
3. Unfold the paper.
4. Continue the activity by creating another
model for squaring a binomial by changing
the measures of the folds to 2in. and 3in.
then answer the question below.

7 1

Y

Remember:
Area of square = s2
Area of rectangle = lw

1.How many different regions are formed?

What geometric figures are formed? Give
the dimensions of each region?
2. What is the area of each region?
3. What will be the area if the longer part is
replaced by x? by x and 1?
4. What is the sum of the areas? Write the
sum of areas in the box below.
5. if 1 is replaced by y, what will be the

area?

ASSESSMENT
Analyze and answer the following.
1. Making open boxes. You have a 3x cm by 2x cm cardboard. You want to cut y cm squares on
each corner to make an open box. What is the area of the base of the box?
2. Practical work. Recycling. Look for a cardboard of any size and make a box. Give the actual
area of the base of your box.
3. Write the area of the base of your box as product of two terms.
4. Write three examples of Squaring a Binomials. Discuss how to get the product using Special
Product.
