Radicals that are not similar, but
dissimilar radicals may become
similar when simplified.
Ex.
a. √32+√128
=√16·2 +√64·2
= 4√2+8√2
=12√2
b. √8+√50
=√4·2+√25·2
=2√2+√5√2
=7√2
c. 8√32+2√128
= (8)√16·2+(2)√64·2
=(8)(4)√2+(2)(8)√2
=32√2+16√2
=48√2
d. 3√8+2√50
=(3)√4·2+(2)√25·2
=(3)(2)√2+(2)(5)√2
=6√2+10√2
=16√2
