A Detailed Lesson Planning Arts 5

I. Objectives
Given a series of activities, the Grade 5 pupils should be able to;
A. Demonstrates fundamental construction skills in making a 3-dimensional craft that
expresses balance, artistic design, and repeated variation of decorations and colors,2.
B. Constructs 3-D craft using primary and secondary colors, geometric shapes, space, and
repetition of colors to show balance of the structure and shape,3.
C. Applies knowledge of colors, shapes, and balance in creating paper beads.

II. Subject Matter


A. Topic: Arts 5: Sculpture/3D Papier Mache/Paper Beads
B. References: Enjoying Life through Music, Art, Physical Education and Health p. 100-109
C. Curriculum Code: A5PL-IVd
D. Materials: PowerPoint Presentation, cut outs, glue, scissors, yarn, colored paper, ruler,
pencil, stick

III. Development of the Lesson


A. Review: (4 pics, One word)
The teacher will present a picture and a scrambled letter.
Let the student guess the picture by arranging the scrambled letters.
B. Priming
a. The teacher will present a picture and let the student guess if it is a 2D art
or a 3D art by stomping the foot (2D art) and clapping twice (3D art).
b. Ask: Have you noticed anything from the pictures presented? Don’t you
think there are similarities in the pictures?
C. Development of the Lesson
1. Activity
a. Have a class discussion about the use of papers in 3D art.
b. The teacher will present different types of Paper Art.
c. The teacher will present how to create a DIY Necklace.
d. The students will create their own DIY Necklace by following the
procedure presented in the front.

2. Analysis
Ask:
1.) What can you say about your creation?
2.) What art principle does it fall under? And the colors used are?
3.) According to the color wheel, we have two categories of color. What are
they again?
4.) What colors belong to the primary category and the secondary colors?
5.) Do colors complement each other? Or does a color or two overlap the
other colors?
6.) By looking at the colors of the beads, what do you feel? Or what
atmosphere do you feel when looking into its colors.
7.) What about the shapes? Are they the same? What can you say about the
placement of the beads?

3. Abstraction
1.) What do we call these three, color, shape, and space, again?
2.) How about these; repetition and balance?

4. Application
1.) Ask the students about the step-by-step procedure of creating a
paper bead.
