NARRATIVE REPORT ON BRIGADA ESKWELA

SY 2018- 2019

Educators believe that the environment plays a big part in pupil’s learning. And
so, if classrooms are not conducive to learning because of poor condition and some
defective school facilities, education is hindered.

The National Schools Maintenance Week dubbed as “Brigada Eskwela” began

in May 2003 and observed every May of each year. It encourages parents, Barangay
residents, NGO’s, youth and private individuals in the community to volunteer resources
and work collectively for the maintenance and minor repair of schools during the month
of May to prepare the schools for the opening of classes in June.

This year’s Brigada Eskwela with theme “Pagkakaisa para sa Handa, Ligtas at
Matatag na Paaralan tungo sa Magandang Kinabukasan” started from May 28- June 2,
2018, with much expected enthusiasm from the volunteers in the community.

San Roque Elementary School possessed great enthusiasm and willingness to

this program as early as middle of May, the school is already preparing for the opening
of classes.

SY 2018- 2019

Educators believe that environment plays a big part in pupil’s learning. And so, if
classrooms are not conducive to learning because of poor condition and some defective school
facilities, education is hindered.

The Department of Education conducted this year’s Brigada Eskwela also known as the
national Schools Maintenance Week with the theme “Pagkakaisa para sa Handa, Ligtas at
Matatag na Paaralan tungo sa Magandang Kinabukasan” on May 28- June 2, 2018 where all
education stakeholders contributed their time, effort and resources in ensuring that the school
facilities are ready in time for the school opening.

San Roque Elementary School Teaching Force, headed by the newly installed principal,
Bernardo B. Antonino recruited volunteers who would participate in the brigade. Parents and
other people from the community were encouraged to join the week-long annual program.
Private businesses, NGO’s, private individuals and local government were tapped to solicit
donations to cover the effort of repair and maintenance of the school.

Through the overwhelming support of the volunteers, the classrooms are restructured and
spruced up. All school facilities are now in good condition. Generally, the school is now ready
for the opening of classes.
