UNIT 3: What day is it today?


Lesson 1

I. Objective
By the end of the lesson students can:
- Competences: Asking and answering questions about the days of the
week
- Sentence patterns: What day is it today? It’s…/ What do you do on +
(name of the day)? / I… in the morning/ the afternoon
- Remember vocabulary: today, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday,
Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday, English.
II. Teaching aids
- TV, board.
III. Anticipated problems
- Students may have limited linguistics when they answer the questions.

- Ask students to turn to page 18 of the book.
- Exercise 1: Look listen and repeat (Track 18)
-The teacher let the kids repeat the dialogue
slowly several times.
- Give kids 5 mins to write down the dialogue in
the notebook. Underline a new word with a red
pen: Good morning.
- Exercise 2: Point and say (track 18)

-Give kids 2 mins to write down new words in the


notebook: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday,
Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.
- Teach kids when to use these greetings
(Ask TA to translate into Vietnamese)
Practice:
Work with a partner (5 mins)
Groups of 2 kids will act out the dialogue in front
of the class. (Tell TA to video it)
- Exercise 3: Listen and tick (Track 19)
- Correct answer
- Exercise 4: look and write

-Correct answer
- Exercise 5: Let’s sing (track 20)

- Give kids the time to write down the song in to


the notebook.
- Let’s practice the song
- The whole class sang and filmed together.

5-6 sentences. Then each group acts out the
dialogue in front of the class. (Tell TA to video it)

K1: I go to school
-Exercise 4: listen and number (track 23)

- Correct answer
