Michigan Academic Standards comprehensive of the unit: (include code and standard)
MAS.SS.1.E1.0.1: Distinguish between producers and consumers of goods and
services.
MAS.ELA.1.SL.1: Participate in collaborative conversations with diverse partners about grade
1 topics and texts with peers and adults in small and larger groups.
Performance Based Learning Objectives comprehensive of the unit:
Given 35 minutes of instruction, learners will be able to correctly determine one
example of a producer with 100% accuracy.
Given 35 minutes of instruction, learners will be able to correctly determine one
example of a consumer with 100% accuracy.
Given direct instruction, learners will be able to distinguish between producers and
consumers of goods and services with 100% accuracy.
Given direct instruction, learners will be able to effectively contribute to discussions in whole
group or with partners at least 2 times per lesson using comments, questions, or nonverbal
gestures (e.g. thumbs-ups, raised hands, nods, communication book).
Following the three-day unit plan, students will be able draw one correct example of a
consumer and one correct example of a producer with 100% accuracy. (SA)

Guiding Questions:
What would happen if there were no consumers of services or goods?
What would happen if there were no producers of services or goods?
Knowledge of Students:
During the first day of the unit, we will begin by talking about what students know
when filling out the KWL about producers.
During the second day of the unit, we will create another KWL to see what students
know about consumers.
On the third day of the unit, we will then fill out what the students learned about
producers and consumers.
I will review information located in the students CA-60s.
