ASSIGNMENT QUESTION

Part I (50%)

OBJECTIVE:

The purpose of this assignment is to assess the understanding of students on the effect
of pay and motivation on employee performance which is related to compensation
management.

REQUIREMENT:

The pay an employee receives from one’s employer can have a great influence on his/her
performance in the company. The employee views the pay as the value his/her employer
places on him/her. The level of motivation he/she feels can have a direct impact on
his/her overall performance. A motivated person is much more willing to put in extra
hours at the office too. Students are required to look into the effect of pay and
motivation on employee performance, discuss and recommend better solutions to the
companies.

1. Students have to explain the effect of pay and motivation on employee performance
which is related to compensation management.

2. Students have to discuss the theories involved which brings an employee to have a
feeling of security, allows him/her to feel accomplished and gives him/her a high-
status ranking that he/she enjoys through pay and motivation, by discussing the
potential advantages and potential drawbacks, supported by examples and cases
from the workplace.

3. Students are also encouraged to refer to at least 4 journal articles for better
understanding of (1) and (2).

4. Students are expected to provide their recommendations and conclusion for


companies based on the discussion.
