Title of Activity: WORKSHOP ON RICE DATA HARMONIZATION

RATIONALE:

In support to the government’s thrust towards food security and sufficiency in the province, the
Provincial Agriculturist Office of focus on sustaining agricultural development by formulating an overall
framework that will serve as blueprint in implementing various agricultural programs and projects. To come
up with evidence-based policies and programs on food security, a timely, accurate, useful and responsive
data is requisite. Accordingly, provincial agencies who are directly involves and affects the data collection
particularly in rice production should work together in providing timely and reliable data since these
statistics are used as basis for analysis, planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of programs
and projects.

In view hereof, a consultation and planning workshop for Data Harmonization which will be
participated by the MAOs, Provincial NIA, Provincial PSA, Municipal Rice Coordinators and Report Officers in
the province is deemed necessary, hence this design.

OBJECTIVES:

The general objective of the workshop is to resolve the disparity of figures relative to the area and
production of rice and come up with a harmonized and unified rice data.

Specific:
1. To sit down together with National Irrigation Administration (NIA) and Philippine Statistics
Authority (PSA) to agree and harmonize rice data;
2. To discuss and assess various production interventions of rice program;
3. To firm up rice targets and come up with Rice Roadmap for the next 5 years.
