INTRODUCTION
In the previous chapter, we have discussed the importance of familiarizing oneself about
different kinds of historical sources. The historian’s primary tool of understanding and interpreting the
past is the historical sources. Historical sources ascertain historical facts. Such facts are then analyzed
and interpreted by the historian to weave historical narrative. In this chapter, we will analyze the
primary sources presented from our history for us to weave our own interpretation and understanding
of the facts about our history.

2. GOD
3. GLORY
4. EXPEDITION

B. Based on the four words, discuss one significant event in the history you remember.

The main objectives of the European Expedition are "The Three G's," meaning Gold, God, and Glory.
In a period where gold was a method of acquiring resources from the East to become the richest
nation, European nations sought gold and other new treasures. God wants to see Christianity flourish
all across the world. European nations wanted to create the largest empires with the greatest areas
because they believed their cultures were superior and they wished to disseminate their civilizations
over the globe.

APPLICATION
I. Answer the following questions below.

1. How did Magellan’s circumnavigation around the world affected the Philippines?

The Philippines was affected by Ferdinand Magellan's circumnavigation through the  Spanish colonial
rule, which brought Christianity to the islands and continues to this day in Filipino folklore and
cultural customs. Additionally, it built business ties that opened doors for ideas and products to
endure for centuries while promoting a variety of experiences.

2. Assess the influence of Europe in our country.

The Europeans introduced the Catholic religion to our country, as well as their culture and cuisine,
which they shared with us. The significance of their influence on local cuisine is most visible around
religious feasts, particularly Christmas. Furthermore, the Europeans have had a significant influence
on our language, so some of our words, such as numbers, days, and so on, have parallels.

3. How does the proclamation of Philippine independence affect our socio-economic activity?

The declaration of Philippine independence has an impact on our socioeconomic activity by making
us more independent from other nations.  At that time, the lives of Filipinos were affected by
economic changes. A new socioeconomic class was created with the development of commercial
agriculture. The socioeconomic created the middle class; the land became the main source of income
due to cash crops and the ability to build; and it created technological interconnections across the
Philippines' dispersed islands.

MODULE 2 | CHAPTER 2 Content and Contextual Analysis

2
The picture depicts how uncertain our lives are when we are in the midst of this pandemic,
based on the political caricature. As he points out, the individual in front of the line appears
to be thinking about resigning. Many businesses have closed since the pandemic began, and
some have been forced to move to work-from-home arrangements in order to keep their jobs.
The caricature expresses the message directly to individuals looking for work, returning to
work, or who are currently working but are feeling burned out due to the current situation.
