Exercise No. 5. Equipment and Facility Specifications

A. Ball. Write two specifications in every ball of team sport asked below. Answer it in bullet
form and refer to the module. One (1) point in each correct answer.

1.Volleyball Ball
• The ball shall be spherical, made of flexible leather or synthetic leather case with a
bladder inside made of rubber or a similar material.
• Its color may be uniform light color or a combination of balls used in international
office competitions should comply with FIVB standards.
2. Basket Ball
• Basketball is an orange-colored and rough-textured spherical ball with black
contours usually made of leather or composite tough materials.
• The ball is bounced continuously (dribbling), thrown through the air to other players
(passing), and towards the basket (shooting).
3. Football ball
• A full-size football is made from leather with a plastic coating to protect it.
• It has a circumference of 67.5 – 7.0 (27-28 inches) and must not weigh more than
450 g (16 oz) and not less than 410 g (14 oz) at the start of the match.
4.Softball ball
• As per the official rules, the softball “shall have a center core made of materials
approved by the ISF Equipment Standards Commission. It may be wound with yarn,
covered with latex or rubber cement, and have a cover of tanned horsehide or
cowhide, synthetic material, or a material approved by the ISF Equipment Standards
Commission.”
• The ball must weigh between 6 ¼ and 7 ounces, and its circumferences must be
between 11 7⁄8 and 12 1⁄8 inches. In competitive play, yellow remains the official
ball color, while white softballs are reserved for recreational leagues and some slow
pitch

B. Court. Identify the following dimensions of some particular lines or areas in the court of
every team sport asked. Specifications should be in meters (m). If the court/ area is
flexible, indicate the minimum or maximum dimension. One (1) point in each correct
