LEARNING GOALS

• I know the structure of a PSMT

• I understand the problem solving steps for a PSMT
• I understand the context of this PSMT, and what my task actually is
WHAT IS A PSMT?

• PSMT – Problem Solving Modelling Task

• A PSMT is a stand alone report which addresses the given task within the given context
• A set process is used to complete the task (formulate, solve, evaluate & verify, communicate)
• The report is written following a set structure (introduction → body → conclusion)
• Your PSMT will count towards 20% of your final grade. Typically, this assessment is where
students get their highest grade for the year – so you should be putting in max effort to do your
absolute best and set yourself up well for the year ahead.

PSMT LESSON
You should have completed your Excel calculations:
- Scatterplot
- Pearson’s Correlation Coefficient
- Coefficient of Determination
- Scatterplot with trendline & R^2
- Residual plot

Today you need to complete your FORMULATE section:

1. Introduction (context, aim, EV/RV, sample size)
2. Observations & assumptions (documented)
3. Plan
4. Use of technology

By the end of the lesson you need to email me your Excel calculations, and your completed formulate section.

You will not be leaving until I receive this email ☺
