In this evidence you are going to read an article about the way people around the world spend
their vacations. Then you have to do a description about the way people spend their
vacations in your country and answer the questions. / En esta evidencia usted va a leer un
texto acerca de cómo pasan las personas sus vacaciones alrededor del mundo. Luego debe
hacer una descripción sobre cómo son las vacaciones en su país y responder las preguntas.

Vacations around the world

Vacation time is a very important part in the life of all people in the world. People from
different cultures spend their vacations in different ways. The number of vacation days ranges
from 10 to 30, being the Europeans such as Germans, French and Swede the luckiest for
having 30 days of vacations; the Latin American countries with a big number of vacation days
are Brazil, Panama and Peru with 25 days. The unluckiest country is China having just 10
days and being vacations not mandatory. Taking into account this aspect, people can decide
what to do and how to enjoy their vacations. Let’s see what people from Germany, Brazil and
China say about their future vacations.

What are you going to do in your next vacations?

Lauren Freudberger (Germany)

I want to visit some friends all along
Europe. First, I’m going to France to visit
my friend Jan Pierre in Lion, I’m staying
for a couple of weeks there. Then I
would like to go to Italy to visit my
cousin Florentina, I’m going to Venice
with her. Finally, I want to go to England

Well I’m planning to go to Rio and spend
a week there, I have my girlfriend there
and we are meeting the first week. Then
I want to know Colombia. I haven’t been
there and my friend told me is a great
destination. Finally I am staying home
and rest for the last week before starting
my work again.

In general, I don’t have much time to
travel, I want to sleep late, I’m going to
eat out with my family, and I’m going to
buy some things that I need for my
house.

Which aspects do you think play an important role in deciding what to do on vacations?

I think opinions of other people would really matter, like If someone already went to a
place and they say that is a good/bad place to spend my vacations , I would obviously
trust them white their “review” of the place and what their experience was, and based
on that I could tell what im getting myself into.

Other aspect that I think is really important is the lodging, food, safety with is something
that everyone has to keep in mind for a good vacation

What do people like to do the most on their vacations?

Mostly of the people visit their family and friends, id like to think they enjoy it even more
when the people they’re going to visit is from other parts of the world, I also believe
everybody has their relaxation to adventure when its about vacations, something new
that they’ve never Done before.

Which plan do you like the most and why?

 The plan that I liked the most was Lauren Freudberger´s one, because I've always
wanted to visit Europe, mostly because of its culture and ways of living, I personally
think that if I someday have the chance to go there I would never make it back to
colombia, cause im sure i would be in love of that continent (and also, I wish had
friends from there!)

most common activities people do, and the famous places people visit. / Escriba un

más comunes que las personas hacen, y los sitios famosos que la gente visita.

In Colombia by law people are given fifteen (15) working days of paid holidays for every
period of 12 months of services.

When we talk about vacations one of the most popular places is Cartagena, mostly for the
beach,The Castillo San Felipe de Barajas, (which is a fortress)
Rosario islands, the palace of the inquisition and convent of Santa Cruz de la popa. e.t.c

Or other people go to the amazon, to do sports like kayaking, climbing, canopy,

rappelling, and they also walk through the jungle and even sleep inside of trees in the
middle of the beautiful nature!

And the also go to santa marta to go to the Tayrona National Natural Park, and for multi-
day guided treks to the Lost City (Teyuna) archaeological site in the Sierra Nevada, the
Santa Marta mountains

and a example of some of the most common places Colombians visit in their vacations
are:

Go up to Cristo Rey, visit the Zoo and get to know the Farallones Natural Park, or some
of the people simply stay at home with their families and spend time together. (because
not everyone has enough resources to be able to plan and pay a whole vacation
schedule).
