Technical Information

ACRABASE-AM is a water-soluble Acrylic polymer for sizing textile warps composed of cotton
fibers polyester cotton fiber blends and filament viscose rayon.

Basic Group : Polyacrylate

Appearance : Slightly pale to light yellow transparent, viscous liquid.

Refractometer Value : 24.8%

Concentration : 23%

Viscosity : 3500 + 15% cp as measured with the falling ball viscometer at 25° C

pH Value : 7.0-8.0

Density : 1.08 gm/ml at 25° C

Storage:

ACRABASE-AM can be stored for 12 months with no specific change in its properties provided
that it is kept in sealed container.

Solubility & Desizing Properties:

ACRABASE-AM has an excellent solubility in hot or even cold water and can be diluted to any
percentage just by stirring. Because of the same property, it can be washed out very easily as
compared with other binders. With ACRABASE-AM/ Starch/ PVA combination the desizing
conditions depend upon the nature of starch and PVA employed.

Skinning:

As with many other ordinary liquid binders for warp sizing, ACRABASE-AM and its solution do
not skin.

How ACRABASE -AM works?

ACRABASE-AM has a correct molecular structure that allows it to penetrate deep inside the yarn
core and forms a bond between the filaments of the yarn.

ACRABASE-AM has excellent adhesive properties to cotton, P/C fiber blends & filaments viscose
rayon, which on drying gives a very strong but elastic film.

The above action results in the following effects.

Increased Yarn Strength & Elongation:

Due to its perfect adhesive & elastic properties the yarn sized with ACRABASE-AM gives better
elongation and strength. The test results show that the yarn strength is increased up to 8 to 10%
when sized with ACRABASE-AM as compared with the other liquid binders.

Hair Suppression:

The film formed by the ACRABASE-AM on the yarn also provide a strong elastic cover over the
yarn surface which does not only suppress the hairiness of the yarn but also remove the fly
problem in the weaving room.

Application:

ACRABASE-AM can be added to the sizing liquor before or after the boiling. Terry cloth or
surgical fabrics, doubled warps, spun rayon warps and many cotton yarns can be sized best with
ACRABASE-AM, with or without any further additives. Just stir the ACRABASE-AM in the solution
till a homogenous solution is obtained.

With Starch and PVA:

When starch is to be used in combination with ACRABASE-AM, first dissolve the starch & PVA
thoroughly in water, and then add ACRABASE-AM in the solution.
