Most students lack time of management skills, which can lead to procrastination since they only do it

when it is convenient for them. It will affect their academic performance and is one of the reasons they
will fail. As a result, students must grasp how to manage their time and responsibilities so that they may
complete their work without having to rush. To attain better success while avoiding dissatisfaction with
their efforts.

Time is the only thing that man cannot change. Nothing can replace the lost or wasted time; it
cannot be recovered. Self-management is simply time management. The abilities needed to
manage others are the same abilities needed to manage oneself Cyril (2015). According to
Adebayo (2015) No one can stop time from passing, but they can always choose how they
spend it. Time management is the practice of planning, organizing, budgeting, and managing
one's time in order to increase efficiency and productivity. When it came to time management,
procrastination, prioritizing, and planning were significant indicators that impacted the
students' academic achievement. It was strongly advised that students keep track of their time
when completing academic tasks in order to achieve high levels of academic achievement.

Moreover, a study of Nasrullah & Khan (2015) in Pakistan. Some of the students struggle with time
management, which has a negative impact on both their personal lives and their academic
performance. Their daily schedules and activities have an impact on how they use their time in
higher education institutions. As they must balance their academic obligations and personal
goals, students' time management can also have an impact on their stress levels.

Razali et al (2018) in Malaysia. They found that there are three surface of time management behaviours.
Those were, short range planning, long range planning, and time attitudes. Firstly, short-range planning.
It means it is a variety of items that need a planning in a short span of time, either within a day or within
a week. Secondly, long-range planning. Competence is the ability to manage daily tasks from a longer-
term perspective while keeping track of important dates and defining goals through procrastination.
Lastly, time attitudes. It means it is more on in attitude-oriented.

Further, time management is doing the right things rather than the wrong things more quickly. It is the
process of honing their productivity and the tool o increase effectively. In human lives, there are seven
vital areas that made. Those are, Health, Family, Financial, Intellectual, Social, Professional, and Spiritual.
If humans make a sufficient time in each areas their lives will be balance, but if they don’t have time in
any of these area there is the low rate of their success (Subramanian, 2016).

In the city of Davao, where the Dona Carmen Denia National high school is located. in which the
researchers are engaged, they observe that most of the grade 12 students don’t know how to manage
their time because majority of them are always do their homework at school rather than doing it at
home. When we asked their if they know how to manage their time, some of them want to waste their
time sleeping or using cell phone instead of doing their task.
By the literature cited on the impact of time management to their academic proficiency of grade 12
students. The researchers found that many students didn’t know how to manage their time that results
to their procrastination, have no self discipline and because of these they might fail . These are the
reasons why the researchers wants to conduct this research to know how the students manage their
time and their academic proficiency.
