III. Opening Prayer

Cor Unum Et Anima Una
A Prayer For Humility (by K-LOVE Pastors)
Heavenly Father, purify children’s hearts and minds, so their actions never come
from pride, anger, or bitterness. Help them bring to the cross their desire to do things
out of selfish ambitions. I pray that they would desire to imitate you, Lord. Help them
walk in a spirit of humility, regarding others as more important than them. Help them see
their needs and also the needs of those around them. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

IV. Ice Breaker: Sing-along

Song Title: We’ve All Got Rights (by UnicefUK)
Procedure:
Step 1: The facilitator will require the students to open their cameras and mute
their microphones. He/she will play the lyric video of the song and ask for the students
to watch and listen carefully to the song, then reflect on it.
Step 2: The facilitator will encourage the students to sing-along.
Step 3: When the music has been played, the students will be asked to choose a
line from the song that they liked most, and several students will be asked to sing the
line/s they chose.

V. Introduction
Opening script:
“Good morning, Compassionate students! It’s nice seeing you in the first hour of
the morning! Can I see some of your smiling faces? Alright, you are all looking good!
Again, this is your Teacher Alex, together with Teacher Yana and Teacher Dan, we will
be your homeroom facilitators for this semester. For today, we will be celebrating
National Children’s Month! Isn’t that exciting? The month of November marks the start
of National Children’s Month, as declared by the Council of Welfare for Children (CWC).
This month-long event aims to promote and spread awareness on the rights of children
here in the Philippines. Yes, you heard that right! Ikaw ang bida ngayon!”
Topic Introduction:
Procedure:
Step 1: Through a PowerPoint presentation, the facilitator will present 6-9 pictures
collaged in one slide. The students will be asked what they see and observe on the
presented pictures. The answers will be either spoken or written in the comment box.
Step 2: The facilitator will proceed to explain that these images are actual situations of
the different child rights deprivation identified in the Philippines by the researchers from
the Unicef Philippines.

VI. Activity Proper

Title of the Activity: Invisible Superpowers
Procedure:
Step 1: The facilitator will require students to create their own superheroes. I will
present the 12 Basic Rights of the Filipino Children as an overview and serve as the
main themes of the activity:
1. Right to be born well.
2. Right to a wholesome family life.
3. Right to be raised well and become contributing members of society.
4. Right to basic needs.
5. Right to access what they need to have a good life.
6. Right to education.
7. Right to play and enjoy their youth.
8. Right to be protected from danger.
9. Right to live in a productive environment.
10. Right to be cared for in the absence of their parents or guardian.
11. Right to good governance.
12. Right to freedom and peace.
Step 2: Now that the students are aware of their basic rights, the facilitator will
entice the students to choose only one of the following, which serves as their
superhero's desired superpower.
Step 3: After the students choose their desired superpower, they will now
proceed to creating and naming their superheroes. Their imaginative minds and
creativity will work here. They have to sketch their superhero on a clean sheet of paper.
No colors should be added, just a black and white sketch. This will symbolize the
concept of equality.

VII. Processing Questions:

About superheroes and their superpower’s execution.
1. Kindly introduce to us who your superhero is. What superpower (basic right)
does your superhero have?
2. How will your superhero execute their superpower?
3. Why did you choose that specific superpower?
General
1. In your opinion, how do basic rights help children like you?
2. What did you learn from this activity?

VIII. Insights
Every person in the world has their rights, so does every child. The child's basic
rights mean that you have the right to everything that helps you to be happy, secured,
and healthy. These rights are not a physical material that you can touch and hold, but
they're like your invisible superpowers. They are also like shields that protect us from
everything that harms us physically, emotionally, etc. In light of the National Children’s
Month, I would like to introduce to you the 12 Basic Rights of the Filipino Children.
1. Every child has the right to be born well. Those days that we are still unborn up to
birth and throughout our childhood years, our parents should provide us a safe
environment that includes proper medical attention and care.
2. Every child has the right to a wholesome family life. You are entitled to be a part
of a loving family that will foster ethical values and morals in you.
3. Every child has the right to be raised well and become contributing members of
society. Our parents and guardians raise us in a safe and loving environment as they
can shape our personality to be a good citizen in our community, as we grow older.
4. Every child has the right to basic needs. We have the right to have healthy foods,
good clothing, sufficient shelter, and proper healthcare.
5. Every child has the right to access what they need to have a good life. This is
beyond our basic needs and focuses on our places and environment we live in. Our
needs must always be attended to for us to feel the support of all the people around us
that will soon build our character as we grow older.
6. Every child has the right to education. Every child should have access to study
and learn in school, so that you can enrich your intelligence and skills.
7. Every child has the right to play and enjoy their youth. Children are entitled to
engage in wholesome recreational activities whenever they wish.
8. Every child has the right to be protected from danger. Adults should remove their
children from all the hazards that could affect their physical, mental, and emotional
states (for example, protect them from the abuse of adults).
9. Every child has the right to live in a productive environment. We have the right
to be surrounded by safe communities that will inspire us to give back in the future.
10. Every child has the right to be cared for in the absence of their parents or
guardian. If the parent or guardian fails to fulfill their role, the State shall assume
custody and care for the child, providing them with their fundamental needs for growth
and development.
11. Every child has the right to good governance. Children also have a right to be
born under the presence of good governance that can inspire them to become a helpful
and active citizen.
And last but not the least,
12. Every child has the right to freedom and peace. Every child is entitled to do
whatever they want in their lives, so long as it contributes to the peace and betterment
of the communities they are a part of.
Now that you already know what your rights are, don’t be afraid to stand up and voice
out whenever you feel violated. Remember your invisible superpowers. Your power is
yours.

IX. Integration
Procedure:
Step 1: With regard to the objectives and the title of the homeroom activity, the
facilitator will be playing a short video downloaded from YouTube which talks about the
different child rights and how important it is to the pupils/children. This video
summarizes international children rights that is within a symbol of three elements, which
symbolizes the Children Rights as The Invisible Superpowers of every child. (See
Appendix A for the YouTube link and video screenshot).
Step 2: The facilitator will encourage the pupils to apply and exercise their own
rights because this is also for their own good.

X. Closing Prayer
Cor Unum Et Anima Una
A PRAYER FOR CHILDREN (by Share Catholic)
God our Father, you have blessed us with the gift of children; thank you for these
precious gems that adorn our house. Their laughter gives us joy and brightens our
lives. They are the expressions of your presence in our home. Their growth shows the
mysteries of your love. May they experience your loving presence, advance in wisdom
and grow in your love. Our children’s future is in your hands, and yet we have our own
role to play in shaping that future. Help us to be true to our responsibility so that we
may assist them in responding to your graces and thus to become what we want them
to be. Amen.
