Learning Story
“My Treasured Family”
I. Story of Visit
We had a long preparation time for this homeroom facilitation due to changes within our
homeroom visits. Our team conducted a meeting and dry run two days before the actual
facilitation to ensure that we would accomplish the final facilitation excellently for the pupils. On
the day of the final facilitation, we followed the usual sequence of how facilitation runs. The
facilitated started from the opening prayer, introduction, ice breaker, short introduction of the
topic and its relation to the ice breaker, main activity, processing questions, insights, integration,
and closing prayer. This is so far the best facilitation we conducted; we did not encounter
problems that would interfere with the presentation. We provided a worksheet posted on their
google classroom three days before the homeroom visit. We somehow expected that some of
them might not be able to print the worksheet, which is why we were prepared on what to
instruct them if they did not have the worksheet. They can simply draw the symbols as we go
through the activity, and some of them did. We played music as they answered the main activity
to keep the ambiance lively while busy, which I think they enjoyed because we could see them
dancing and singing. We also prepared examples on some parts that we think they might find
hard to answer during the activity proper. For the processing questions, we gave insights right
after a pupil answers; this is to provide insight that is particular to each pupil’s response and
introspect each answer. Gladly, each pupil gave a meaningful insight about the activity we
prepared, which guarantees that they enjoyed the activity and understood the essence of it. In
the latter part of our presentation, we played two videos about family. The first video is about
family roles, in which I explained the importance of roles and their relevance to our topic. As for
the second video, my co-intern explained that each family is different and should be
appreciated, not just the family we have at home but also the family we have in school, church,
and community. In the end, we bid our goodbyes with the adviser and pupils. They gave us their
heartwarming excellent claps; we all teared up a little because we felt appreciated and will miss
them. They were participative from the start, and it made our facilitation with them easier and
enjoyable ☺
