Tittle Rhyming word

Skill Reading skill (Intermediate)

Duration 10 minutes

Objective At the end of the activity, the participants


will be able to:

a. Create the same rhyme for each words.

b. Think a new words.

The game Task:


1. The students need to create a word base on
the pattern given.

Rules:
1. The game must be played in group.

2. All players in the group must be participate


for the game.

3. They need to make a discussion but in a short


time.

4. Facilitators will introduce the players with a


poem or rhyming story as a reference.

5. The players need to create a word base on


the materials given.

How to play:
1. Introduce a poem or rhyming story such
as Miss Mary Mack:
Miss Mary Mack, Mack, Mack
all dressed in black, black, black
with silver buttons, buttons, buttons
up and down her back, back, back…

2. The players need to point out words in books


that have a similar spelling pattern as in black.
3. They need to think of other words that have
this pattern. But the facilitators may have to
write a few words for them:
sack
pack
stack
4. Then they need to read the whole word and
underline the repeated part of the word, "ack."

5. Using magnetic letters and form a word with


the "ack" pattern. Ask the players to change
the first letter of the word (for example: 's'
in sack) to make a new word, such as pack.
You should be sure to provide a limited number
of letters (two or three at first) for the child to
choose from. 

6. The players have a chance to go back to a


book, poem, or other texts where they can
apply this new reading skill.

Significance/Rational of the game:


1.To challenge and improve students' abilities
in reading skills, so that students manifest their
skills in processing and using difficult sentences.

Conclusion 1. Players can find, combine and process new


sentences but in the same pattern form.

2. They can apply all they learn in their new


reading skill.
