Abstract

Due to the number of phenomena happening in the world such as climate

change, inflation and continuous decrease in the supply of oil which affects
the economy — numerous businesses, companies, and corporations decide
to switch and find alternatives to maximize their resources. And as the
world transforms into a more advanced technology, modern transportation
is now being introduced which offers new features compared to a traditional
jeepney. The purpose of this study entitled "Comparative Analysis Between
Modern Jeepney and Traditional Jeepney in Providing Convenience, Safety,
Affordability, and Eco-friendly to Passengers in Quezon City" is to find out
which mode of jeepney transportation will commuters in Quezon City prefer
to use in terms of convenience, safety, affordability, and eco-friendly. The
researchers gathered data on 103 respondents who are riding both modern
and traditional jeepney in Novaliches Bayan, Quezon City. The overall
perceived level of commuter’s preference in choosing modes of jeepney
transportation in terms of convenience, safety, affordability, and eco-
friendly all got indicators as Agree. The convenience got a (M=4.24,
SD=.57) which ranked first, followed by affordability (M=4.18, SD=.66)
and safety (M=3.97, SD=.81). Eco friendly ranked last (M=3.88, SD=.83).
While on the commuters perceived level of satisfaction towards traditional
jeepney and modern jeepney in terms of its overall services, the indicator
SAT4 got the highest ranking (M=4.32, SD=.82), followed by SAT5
(M=4.29, SD=.89) and SAT1 (M=4.22, SD=.97). SAT3 got the lowest rank
(M=4.02, SD=1.00). Overall, it was seen that there is a significant
difference in terms of convenience, safety, affordability, and eco- friendly
when grouped according to preferred mode of jeepney transportation and
the study also shows that the preferences of the respondents are not the
same.
 Recommendation

 It is important to have numerous available modern jeepney transportation because the

lack of it made commuters choose traditional jeepney over it.

 Eco-friendly rank last on the perceive level of commuter’s preference in choosing modes
of jeepney transportation indicating that transportation companies should invest on
sustainable alternatives that would bring an impact to commuters.

 We recommend that jeepney transportation companies include an air freshener in them

vehicle as most of the commuters are not satisfied on the overall scent of the vehicle.

 Most of the commuters still preferred traditional jeepneys due to its numerous available
units that are why the researchers recommend that modern jeepney companies should
look on investors to expand the area transportations services.

 Commuters does not like overcrowding in any jeepney transportation because it will feel
hot and isolated. The researchers recommend that jeepney transportation must leave a
small amount of space between passengers for air ventilation and comfortable space.

 It is important to acquire CCTV and other safety equipment on a jeepney transportation

though it is quite expensive, it is still useful for the safety of commuters and drivers.

 The researchers recommend to future researchers that you focus your study on modern
jeepneys to know how effective it is as an alternative to traditional jeepney.
