Functions Principles of lubrication

1.) Piston cooling, - I think the Lube Oil is used to cool the piston as it passes
through a cooling gallery or channel built into the piston itself.
Through intake apertures in the bottom of the piston, one or
more oil spray nozzles supply oil into the cooling channel. One
or more drain holes allow the cooling fluid to leave the cooling
channel.
2.) Corrosion prevention due - I think the Lube oil reduces or eliminates internal rust and
to acids and moisture, corrosion by neutralizing acids and providing a chemical
protective layer to resist moisture from metal surfaces.
3.) Cleaning pistons and - We should carefully remove the rings from the engine and
preventing sludge build- then proceed to clean the piston, as well as, the grooves that
up on internal surfaces, hold the rings.
4.) Keeping seals lubricated - I think mechanical seals are provided to prevent leakage from
and controlling swelling the volute where the shaft passes and rotates in contact with
to prevent leakage due to the fluid being handled.
seal failure
5.) Friction reduction of - I think Lubrication reduces the heat generated when two
boundary and hydro surfaces are in motion. It smoothed the process by forming a
dynamically lubricated film between two surfaces that reduces friction and thus
components, improves performance and efficiency.
6.) Wear reduction of - I think the Lubricant oil forms a seal between the piston rings
components such as and the cylinder walls. This reduces wear, improves
bearings, pistons, piston compression, and keeps impurities out while increasing fuel
rings, cylinder liners and economy.
