FIN745: MANAGERIAL FINANCE

GROUP TERM PAPER

Students will work on the assignment collaboratively in groups 4 students. Each group will be given a topic as listed
below:

Topic AB (Group A & B)

Topic CD (Group C & D)

Topic EF (Group E & F)

Every topic must be discussed critically with the inclusion of related journal articles presenting theoretical and
empirical evidences. Each group must emphasize critically on the conclusion of their topic.

Each group must submit a written report of their assignment, in soft-copy via email. The report must be written
clearly and concise, between 10 – 12 pages (appx. 5000 words) in length exclusive of preliminary material,
bibliography and appendices. The final report should include a title page, table of contents, executive summary,
references and appendices (if required). References must use The American Psychological Association (APA)
format. Note that plagiarism is an academic offence. Hence students are also required to submit the full report via
Turnitin and check similarity must be less than 30 percent at all time.

The assignment presented herein is designed to enable students to learn a high proficiency of persuasive
written communication in an organizational context by applying appropriate finance concepts and
principles . Students are expected to communicate effectively in writing exhibiting clear and precise use of
English, structured arguments, reasoned conclusions, adherence to word limit and appropriate referencing of
sources.

To reinforce the teamwork effort, each group will present their topic in a debate session within appx. 60 minutes
that is 20 – 30 minutes for the presentation and the remaining 30 minutes on Q & A session. Students are expected
to deliver a professional quality formal presentation by exhibiting; clarity and appropriate pace, logical
structure, credibility, effective use of visual aids/technology, and appropriate body language.

The due date for the report, soft copy of the report, and turnitin report is on 13 December 2020 (4th SUN). The oral
presentation is to be held on 19 December 2020 (5 th SAT) (subject to change).

The group term paper carries 30 percent of the overall assessment that is 20 percent for the report and 10
percent for the presentation. Marks allocation is as below:
