SEMANA 18 - DIÁLOGO

P: Good morning teacher, my name is Pamela Quispe.

X: Good morning teacher, my name is Xiomara Zuñiga. Today we're going to do a role play
regarding an interview.

P: Hello Xiomara, my name is Pamela Quispe. Welcome to the interview for the scholarship
abroad, please can you introduce yourself in a few words?

X: Good afternoon Mrs. Quispe. My name is Xiomara Zuñiga Bendezu, I'm 18 years old and
I'm from Peru. I graduated from high school two years ago with academic excellence and
with the hope of continuing my studies at your university. So, I would like to get a scholarship
abroad.

P: Well, first of all, why do you think you deserve this scholarship?

X: Because I consider myself a good student and I am very competitive when I set myself a
goal. In addition, one of my dreams in the professional field since I was a child is to finish a
degree, because I want to contribute with my work to Peru. For this reason, I have won
many science contests and next month I will be in Brazil to receive an important prize.

P: What do you hope to learn in the program you chose? What countries have you traveled
to?

X: I have chosen to study Law, because I'm very interested in the situation that my country is
going through, that is why I'm going to specialize in Criminal Law when I finish my degree. I
haven't traveled to any country yet.

P: If you haven't been abroad yet, where would you go if you had the chance? Why?

X: I would travel to Spain because it's the best place to learn about the branch of Law I
need, I would bring my knowledge to light and I would be someone recognized by everyone.

P: Who would support you financially during your studies?

X: My relatives are people who work hard to maintain their own company in the country and
would be sponsoring my education and living expenses throughout my studies.

P: Okay, I understand. Tell me, what are you going to do after graduation?

X: I'm going to work in a law firm and start an online advice site.

P: Well, in that case I'd like to ask you a few additional questions. How do you stay active
during the day and maintain a healthy lifestyle?

X: I really like playing sports, especially basketball. I also do weight training. As for my diet, I
eat balanced; I eat five meals a day and I don't restrict myself if from time to time I crave
something sweet.

P: How do you handle deadlines or multiple tasks?

X: I make sure I have a positive outlook on the task at hand, then outline a plan for how to
execute it and meet its deadline. I also understand the importance of deadlines.

P: But what if you can't complete the allotted time limit? Won't you submit the homework?
What would you do?
X: If I can't meet the deadline, I will humbly ask for an extension. But I'm sure that this will
not happen because I organize myself well to fulfill all my activities.

P: What has served you for your personal development?

X: I believe that having priorities makes you change your vision of things, knowing how to
manage my emotions has also helped me a lot. The objective is to know yourself and have a
balance, this is ideal for everything; from food to the projects that one has.

P: In that case, Do you have any questions for me?

X: What are my chances of getting the scholarship?

P: I’m visualizing that you are one of the best students of your ideal school for our
university, but all in time, there are many people who want the scholarship.

X: Thank you, I'm very nervous, I hope they give me the opportunity to win the scholarship.
Finally, when will the list of those selected for the scholarship be published?

P: Well, for now we don't have an exact date. Likewise, all the information will be sent by
email. Any additional questions?

X: No, thanks for solving my doubts. I hope to have the opportunity to win the scholarship
and fulfill my dreams of studying at one of the best universities.

P: Nice to meet you, Xiomara. I like your attitude, you are a very admirable person. I can say
that you are a good candidate for this position.

X: Nice to meet you too. Thanks for your time.

P: Thanks for coming.
