The purpose of this document is to detail how CONTRACTOR estimates the Man-
hours for Electrical and Instrumentation disciplines.
It describes:
The activities used on the job card
The basis used for Man-hours estimating
The coefficients used in time estimating
For electrical and instrument activities, the norms to be used for offshore
installation come from different estimator’s manual from John S. Page:
Estimator's electrical manhour manual
Estimator's piping manhour manual (for instruments installation)
Cost Estimating Manual for Pipelines & Marine Structures
We also consider some norms from document issued by Company for EPC4A project
(e.g. for cable pulling): “EPC4A HUC Estimating Methodology Rev 0”.
Any “grey areas” should be covered by supplementary norms but can also be
estimate by preparator based on experience or realistic assumptions.
The productivity factor is to be considered as 1 for E&I work.
For demolition, we will use 50% of installation norms (cf. EPC4A HUC Estimating
Methodology Rev 0).
The teams performing E&I Job cards will be made of the following productive
personnel:
Instrument Technician
Tubing Fitter
Electrician
E&I Helper
Firewatcher
4.1.2 Housekeeping
10% of total Man-hours listed on the Job cards are to be considered.
This activity shall always be listed as the last activity on the Job cards.
4.2 ELECTRICAL AND INSTRUMENTATION ACTIVITIES
4.2.1 Tubing Installation

Above Hours include checking out of storage, handling to erection location and
complete installation (means with clamps, union, fittings, and fusible plugs)
including average time for mark-up.
Preparator to consider extra hours in regards of valves or filter regulators to be
installed.
Hours do not include installation of instruments, trays or supports.

Assumptions:
Man-Hours for pulling are from “Cost Estimating Manual for Pipelines &
Marine Structures” from John S. Page (Page 261) and “EPC4A HUC
Estimating Methodology Rev 0“.
Other type and section of cables not found, estimates by preparators.
Demolition: use 50% of installation norms (cf. EPC4A HUC Estimating
Methodology).

3/C # 1/0 AWG, 600V, Metal Clad 2.85* 3.9* Electrical Team 1
3/C # 3/0 AWG, 600V, Metal Clad 3.36 4.31 Electrical Team 2
Assumptions:
Man-Hours for termination and glanding are from “Cost Estimating Manual for
Pipelines & Marine Structures” from John S. Page (Page 261) and “EPC4A HUC
Estimating Methodology Rev 0“.
Added cables are returned in red. Man-hours of these are estimate by preparators
Assumptions:
Riggers will assist us for pulling of cable from cable-reel whenever
necessary.
Electrical pulling team shall be crew sized (x) by preparator considering
various parameters like length to be pulled, type and section of cables and
simple or complex layout.
For OCIP project, electrical pulling Team could rose up to 10 personnel, with
minima 4 personnel.
We assume Electrical Team 2 will handle pulling of standard cable (i.e. section
below 3Cx2 AWG), length to be pulled below 50 foot and simple layout.
We assume Electrical Team 2 will carry out demolition of tubing, trays and cable
