ORGANIZATIONAL OVERVIEW

FHI 360 has signed Principal Agreement with Ministry of Planning and International
Cooperation (MoPIC) and established a country office in March 2018. Currently, FHI 360 is
running an integrated humanitarian response program in Mokha, Mawza, and Dhubab in Taiz
and Khawkhah in Hudaydah. 

POSITION OVERVIEW  

Under supervision of the Health and Nutrition Coordinator, the Community Health Officer is
responsible for supporting all health and nutrition activities in the communities in FHI 360
operational governorates and districts. S/He will be responsible for providing technical guidance
to ensure that program implementation adheres to appropriate international and national (Yemen
Ministry of Health) technical standards and guidelines are technically sound. 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND DELIVERABLES

 Work closely with the Health and Nutrition Coordinator and the Health and Nutrition Officers
based in Mokha to achieve program objectives and targets effectively and efficiently.
 Ensure that FHI 360 program in communities is implemented in time; within budget and
according to agreed-upon national and international standards.
 Provide continuous remote and field-based assistance to the program in Mokha, Mawza,
Dhubab, Hays and Khawkah.
 Managing CHVs; Support and provide technical oversight to nominated CHVs, organize
meetings, submit reports.
 Disease surveillance: Identifying diseases requiring prompt reporting, investigate outbreaks, do
surveillance, report according to protocol.
 Health promotion and education; organize health and nutrition education and promotion through
home visits, conduct community outreaches, FGDs, record and report. 
 Participate in conducting situational analysis and other M&E activities as necessary.
 Collect, revise and compile project data regularly to submit to the Health and Nutrition
Coordinator including case studies, success stories and photographs of facilities. 
 Ensure program targets are met using indicator / activity tracking table.
 Ensure the quality of data through proper entry, cleaning and regular checking and use the data
for action on the site.
 Ensure treatment of patients with acute malnutrition is based on national and international
standard and guidelines.
 Build the capacity of iCCM and CHVs through proper coaching and training.
 Prepare weekly and monthly reports and submit to H&N Coordinator.
 Any other tasks assigned

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS 

 BSc. in Nursing or related field.


 Fluent in Arabic and Excellent in English language. (spoken & written).
 At least 3 years of national work experience in the field of primary health care programs,
including emergency and humanitarian response, with an emphasis on health information
system, and surveillance.
 Previous experience with managing nutrition programming such as outpatient therapeutic care,
stabilization center and IYCF is strongly recommended
 Previous experience working with the Yemen Ministry of Health (MOPHP), a U.N. Agency
(WHO, UNICEF, OCHA) or an International non-governmental organization, is not required but
preferable
 Good understanding of the UN Cluster System; international and national minimum standards of
services in humanitarian settings
 Sound understanding of gender mainstreaming, monitoring and evaluation and project cycle
management
