NARRATIVE REPORT
LQMHS Brigada Preloved Sale 2022
(AGOSTO 15-19, 2022)

“Camaraderie doesn’t happen by accident; developing a strong sense of trust, accountability

and togetherness around team goals require intentional effort”, by Don Yeager. Relative to
DepEd Memorandum No. 62, s. 2022 (Re: Brigada Eskwela Implementing Guidelines), it
aims to prepare schools with the help of the stakeholders, volunteers, government and non-
government organizations and other institutions to accomplish the designed tasks and
objectives in collaboration with administrators and teachers. This year’s theme is “Brigada
Eskwela: Tugon sa Hamon ng Ligtas na Balik-Aral”. Despite of the situation that we had
today because of pandemic, Leon Q. Mercado High School prepares different, innovative and
exciting activities for this year’s Brigada Eskwela.

One of the exciting activities that LQMHS prepares for this year’s Brigada Eskwela is LQMHS
Brigada Preloved Sale 2022. I, together with my partner Ma’am Bernadine B. Rosales
was tasked to lead/ initiate the activity. The rationale of this activity is the idea of recycling,
reusing and repurposing fashion isn’t a new one—but it wasn’t until recently that the once-
taboos of shopping at thrift stores became trendy. With the rise of fast fashion, the life cycle
of our apparel has shortened. Naturally, consumers are more willing to get rid of cheaper
items than more expensive ones. As clothing becomes cheaper and cheaper, its quality and
its value diminish. Leon Q. Mercado High School, as one of educational institution aims to
establish and educate more about sustainable garment usage and importance of reuse,
recycle, re-wear, and repurpose especially that there is a global call for environmental crisis
response. Our main objectives are; A. Be able to collect preloved clothes, bags, shoes and
other materials from the faculty and staff of Leon Q. Mercado High School, B. Promote
Sustainable Fashion by selling preloved items from the faculty and staff of Leon Q. Mercado
High School, C. Be able to respond to the global environment call to reuse, recycle, re-wear,
and repurpose items, D. Be able to sell affordable items to the students, parents, and
guardians of Leon Q. Mercado High School which they can still repurpose for school year
2022-2023, and E. Be able to generate funds to sustain other school expenses. Expenses
relative to the conduct of this activity shall be charged against Learner Support Fund (MOOE
and Local Funds), subject to the existing accounting, budgeting, and auditing rules and
regulations. For quality assurance and needs assessment, daily monitoring and evaluation
will be conducted using an M&E form.

We started displaying and selling preloved items at the corridor of room 10 on the day 3 of
Brigada Eskwela which was on August 17, 2022 until August 19, 2022. During day 1 and day
2 of Brigada Eskwela, we collected and properly arranged and inventory the items donated
by the teachers. Luckily a lot of parents and students were pleased and convinced to buy
the preloved items. The items displayed were not yet washed but pre-sanitized through heat
and sunlight as natural sanitization. Thus, buyers are encouraged to wash the items,
especially clothes, before wearing them. This preloved sale shall follow the minimum health
standards required for COVID-19 Infection Prevention by wearing of face mask and social
distancing. Contact tracing shall be enforced upon entering the designated venue. Prior to

entering the venue, the guard gets the temperature of the participants and asks them to fill-
up a health declaration form.

In ensuring the safety of guests, the schedule of buying in the preloved sale shall be limited
to ten (10) persons per 15 minutes for them to choose from the items displayed. This is to
shorten the amount of time spent in the area and avoid congestion.

In general, the LQMHS Brigada Preloved Sale 2022 activity was successful one, we earned
two thousand two hundred pesos (PHP 2, 205) in three days and Ma’am Bernadine remitted
the money to our hardworking BE Coordinator Miss Maybelle C. Saavedra. Although it was
an exhausting job on our part, we’re happy because we were able to help the school. And I
believe in the saying that "Anumang layunin ay mapagtatagumpayan kung may pagkakaisa
at pagtutulungan".
