AUDIOVISUAL MEDIA
Audiovisual Media is electronic media possessing both a sound and a visual component, such as slide-
tape presentations, films, television programs, video games, slideshows, corporate conferencing, church
services, and live theater productions. Audio literally means “hearing” and “visual” means that which is found
by seeing. So, all such aids, which endeavor to make the knowledge clear to us through our sense are called
“Audio Visual Aids” or Instructional Material.
Audiovisual Media are part of the new technologies that encompass a variety of resources, tools and
equipment that in recent years have flooded the field of training. The new information and communication
technologies enable the creation of a new social-virtual space for human interrelations, this new environment is
being developed in education, because it facilitates new learning processes and transmission of knowledge to
through modern communications networks. The Audiovisual Media are the means of social communication that
refer directly to the image such as photography, and audio.

Audio-visual media are an important source for writing the history of modern India because, they hold
significant importance because these mediums often display valuable information about politics, art, social
issues, and cultural aspects through various shows, sometimes also through live coverage. Audio-Visual aids
such as interactive boards can be used during the lecture, to make the presentation more interesting. Using
audio-visuals can improve the visual and auditory perception of students. The teacher can easily show the class
her note and then ask them to discuss it.
AUDIOVISUAL MATERIAL
AV works include motion pictures, videos, audiocassettes, CDs, DVDs, etc. AV should not be confused
with multimedia which may include several types of AV materials but has different guidelines. When
discussing AV works, we are talking about Performance and Display rights as well as Fair Use.
