HISTORY AND CURRENT SITUATION OF DIAGYAN NATIONAL HIGH SCHOOL

Through the initiative of the former chairman of Brgy. Diagyan, Brgy Captain Domingo P.
Moises and other barangay officials, and Mr. Avelino Silapan, Principal of Diagyan Elementary
School, a joint resolution of Brgy Diagyan, Dilaguidi and Dicabasan was made for the
establishment of a high school in Diagyan, but it was not approved by former Mayor Vicente T.
Dela Cruz.

When the former mayor has been replaced by Mayor Victorio B. Briones, during the time
of SDS Antonio A. Gereno, the said resolution was approved thus led to the establishment of
Diagyan High School.

SDS Gereno talked to Mayor Briones for the construction of classrooms. While there are
still no school buildings, the Multipurpose Hall of Diagyan was used as the temporary
classrooms when it opened on September 24, 2007.

On its first year of operation, the school offered first year and second year with 159
students with five locally funded teachers namely: Rodolfo O. Leti Jr., Ma. Elmie P. Miague,
Julie Maryjane V. Dayao. Norma T. Abad, and Beverlyn Friginal. They were then headed by Mr.
Avelino Silapan until Mr. Martes Rivera took over on November that year.

Diagyan High School was originally known as Dilasag National High School Annex. The
school campus is a 2 hectares lot donated by PATECO, a logging company based at Diagyan.
Dilasag. Aurora. The school was founded through the initiative and strong cooperation of the
people in the communities it serves and the leaders it works with.

The land is situated in Diagyan, Dilasag, Aurora near the barangay plaza. It is along the
provincial road going to Dinapigue, Isabela. The school also caters students from Dilaguidi and
some from Dinapigue, Isabela

At present the school is offering both Junior High School and Senior High School –
Humanities and Social Sciences curriculum. It has 18 nationally funded teachers, one
administrative assistant and one school principal, three utility personnel under contract of
service.

There are nine school building which houses the different grade level classrooms,
library, guidance office, ICT rooms, and TVL workshop areas.
